Always thought this was underrated. Ben Kingsley is fucking amazing.

Now that is a proper film, Kingsley really comes across as a scary, horrible bastard.

Ian McShane was said to have quoted that 44 Inch Chest will make Sexy Beast "Look like Mary Poppins!". Bollocks. For what I thought might be a serious movie I didnt get Guy Ritchie at worst but fucking Shane Richie.

Finally bought this after borrowing the dvd off a friend years ago and watching repeatedly. Fantastic film, Landau as Bela Lugosi has to be one of my all time favourite performances.

Easily Burton's best work.

Jesus christ, this film ranks up there with the biggest piles of shit I have even seen, I cant believe I bothered to watch it to the end in the hope something half decent might happen.

Terrible cringe worthy script and story, riddled with cliches and needless swearing, that even manages to make great actors like Ray winston, John Hurt and Ian McShane look like a bunch of old fake has-been wannabe gansters failing to come across as intimidating.

Awful...

It is awful, the dialogue is written by a school boy. "She had a fakin phone box for a kant, and get this, it was fakin chasin him, fakin hell, a fakin phone box for a fakin kant!"

It's a shame because all those actors were wasted, John Hurt was the only thing that kept me with it to the end.

Ordered copies of Pi and The Fountain last night off Amazon Marketplace... my lady went to the Oxford St HMV to look for me and apparently Pi is out of print now!

Really? I have it on VHS

edit to add: I think you'll be forgiven for downloading it then, unless you really want to fork out £23 for it at Play.com

Clint Mansell does some great scores for films, you might like the one for Moon, it's far more ambient than his other stuff. I really like it.
