depends very much when you saw it, this movie might not seem as original now as it felt when it came out, loads of copycats afterwards, but the "melodramatic bollocks" it's really harsh and i don't think technically, visually, and audio this film has any unaccomplishments

Easy Rider - the final scene in that is the only time I've sat on my couch, joint in hand, for a good 20 minutes just staring at the wall.

probably one of the best endings in movie history!
He should have idkfa, and iddqd'd, or stolen a cops gun at the end. Suicide is more fun in groups.
You want to find the number 216 in the world, you will be able to find it everywhere. 216 steps from a mere street corner to your front door. 216 seconds you spend riding on the elevator. When your mind becomes obsessed with anything, you will filter everything else out and find that thing everywhere.

Some good ones on here so far...

Dancer in the Dark (did a double feature with this and Requiem and after not even a dozen puppies could have improved my mood)
Killing Room
Code 46
Clean Shaven
Doom Generation (shite film but punctuates well)
Naked
Bad Lieutenant
A Very Long Engagement

Actually, now I think about it the ending to The Mist left me pretty cold inside too.
The Mist was spoiled by the acting of the person who plays the main protagonist. That particular scene at the end made me laugh. Kinda spoiled the film for me
