maybe it's just me... but i'm not getting this. what the OP described setting up... it IS soundcloud. except it's not established and has no members. i thought the whole idea of soundcloud is that it's a community? if you start a new one, it's going to be the same, just new. which means you'd put in a whole lot of work to create something that already exists. what exactly is it about SC that bothers people? tracks only take a minute or two to upload. if the fact that it visually represents waveforms bothers you, you could just go over to soundclick.com ... that's where i used to host my stuff

so... i'm lost. its soundcloud with no waveforms....

so whats your issue with waveforms, exactly? the fact that it makes people skip through songs?

so you want to remove that ability altogether, and give people less options? counter-productivity at its finest, imo...

as a reviewer, i dont want to listen to listen to a song all the way through to timestamp one point for someone to work on

ESP if one of my comments is going to be "Omfg why is this song nine minutes long and basically looped, you could chop down the main riff, cut the ending down, etc"

soo..... somehow i doubt you're going to be able to convince people to leave soundcloud to go to a site with fewer members and less options

flame me if you will, lets see how beta goes... or, you could just use soundclick...!

Well I like Soundcloud and I like the waveform. Not sick of it by a long shot. I never noticed it being slow either probably because everything is slow with DSL. When I had cable is was fast as hell. Anyway I am going to upgrade to a pay account soon. Will try this out if you will have me though. Have to explore the options after all.

eh? so it's like soundcloud without the waveforms?
Pretty much, and we dont plan to limit filespace/size or lay a hand on the conversaion of the mp3.... which are all things they try and do...

My team always admirred them for beign rather well designed until recently when a problem with thier servers has caused frequent lapses in the system duringwhich waveforms cant be displayed or rendered n therefore n tracks can be played or downloaded.

Im pming now.

TO the poster above, I want to stress that its not a matte rof waveform display causing superficial problems like speed and play skips for soudclouds users, its a greater instability and insecurity within thier system that I feel could have been prevented by a more minimalist, less flashy bells n whistles design.

This...

If you read throughout, youll notice horrible system mlafunctions surrounding the matter of the generating of waveforms and the conversion to stream associated with it. By eliminating this step, and allowing users to directly manage the storage and distribution of the audio files hosted on our server we hope to provide an alternative tool with higher flexibility.

Sorry man, we had 100 slots for beta and mine are full, however, I would imagine well be taking on more users very shortly after launch, and Ill be sure to get all the informaton up on here when that happens.

In the meantime, Id like to know, what would you guys as fellow producers, being looking for in a music exchange service? One of the most frequent answers Ive gotten too this is collab aide, and were working ery hard to ensure the functionality of private private boxes in serving this purpose. But is there anything else you feel as if other exchange services have missed? The group I am working with on this are very dependant on us, the programmers, to help in the PR sect of things, so, please, tell me what the music community needs!

Collab idea is always popular and if you smash it and do it properly you will do well.

I'm interested to know why I got an email from Mistayif saying "put me on the betalist" sent to the email I provided? It's not the same as the one I use here.

Mistake? :)

Or some shady business? :r:
