Yeh man, my question was pretty awful tbh haha. I need to start messing with bit crushing more, part of the reason i posted.futures_untold wrote:It is possible to 'make' some of the effects using a combination of several other reason devices.-dubson- wrote:Can/ how do you make FX's that Reason doesnt have? You can modulate a delay device to achieve pitch shifting and use eq's to make different filter types etc.
As mentioned above, reason pretty much covers everything, it's just that some things aren't always obviously located. (Like the comb filters and shapr on the Malstrom, the vowel filter on Thor and the bit crusher on the Scream device)....

The bitcrush is called Digital on the Scream device.-dubson- wrote:Yeh man, my question was pretty awful tbh haha. Very short delay times (4-24ms) give a great metallic sound to your bass

Futures, do you know how to use the formant filter in thor using an external signal? I tried messing around with the audio in / cv in but I couldn't get it to work...

Open up a mixer, under the mixer you open a ReDrumsignals wrote:i cant get the drums to work
In there you have (I think) 10 channels, and each one has a little "open sample" button. For instance, open a kick on channel 1, make your pattern and press Run (while your DAW is in play mode, not in stop) Next step is to load another sample in ReDrum using channel 2. Press Select at the bottom of the channel en make your pattern for sample 2. Keep doing this until you are happy. Right click on your ReDrum device > Copy pattern to track. Now the last thing you should do is press a little button in the bottom that says Enable pattern section. Make sure it is off, and now your pattern is in your sequencer, ready to play.
You can also use one of reason samplers if you use a Midi controller to trigger the samples.

i cant get it to play without looping i tride to copy the pattern to track

You can open a rex drum preset in a sampler, (nnxt/nn19/drrex) and just rock the drums live on a controllersignals wrote:i cant get it to play without looping i tride to copy the pattern to track

The production bible has a nice article on Reason, so you have something to start with.signals wrote:thanks

Re: The Reason Q&A Thread
Not really a question or an answer, but i thought i'd share this one;
The Record Demo comes with a demo refill. Doesn't include any instruments, but there's lots of excellent combinator patches in there like great effects (various kinds) and mastering patches.
You can't use all of em because some use the record specific devices but there are many that can be loaded into reason 4.
Enjoy!

Cheers, checking it out when I come homeFreshman wrote:Not really a question or an answer, but i thought i'd share this one;

Re: The Reason Q&A Thread
U can also Timetretch (kind of) in Reason.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.
Re: The Reason Q&A Thread
If you mean the nn-19 sample start trick, ye i know. but i'm not always after the granulized effect that comes with it.
i'm looking to stretch instrumental samples etc, they need to remain in the same pitch etc..

Re: The Reason Q&A Thread
I have a <100kb piece of freeware that can timestretch up to some 1000 times, it's awesome to make pads. I'll try to find it for you when I come home.Freshman wrote:If you mean the nn-19 sample start trick, ye i know. but i'm not always after the granulized effect that comes with it.

What NN19 sample start trick are you talking about?

About the NN19 trick, i'll describe it when i am at home tonight.
I used it in my track Energy Rush (at 2:15)
Re: The Reason Q&A Thread
Can you extract the Reason specific ones for us.Freshman wrote:Not really a question or an answer, but i thought i'd share this one;

Re: The Reason Q&A Thread
Here you go;kejk wrote:What NN19 sample start trick are you talking about?
1. create a NN19 sampler and load a sample in it (vocal samples are nice for this)
2. create let's say a 4 bar group and fill it with 16th or 32nd notes on C3 (middle C), just so the sample will trigger over and over again
3. create an automation lane for the 'Sample Start' knob on the NN19.
4. draw automation for this knob. let it go from 0 to 127 (or how open you want it to be), over the same length then you drawn the notes at step 2.
Enjoy =D
@miscend; i don't want to be rude but that's going to take up a lot of time so no... it might be over 100 patches anyways.
Re: The Reason Q&A Thread
Again, not really a question nor an answer, but thought i'd share this tip i just found out.
If you are lazy to find on what frequencies a certain sample is around, you can make some sort of spectrum meter by doing the following:
1. Create a BV512 vocoder (leave it on vocoder
2. wire your mixer out like the scheme below;
3. press tab and enjoy. for analyzing just one track mute all the others of course
Should make EQing etc a bit easier. At least for me it did!

Thanks, this is way easier than the one on youtube.. is it decently accurate?

Yeah it should be.morro_e wrote:it should be
