Just posting a few tracks we've finished over the last month or so. Sorry if i'm taking the piss by posting them all at once.

Any feedback and critique will be well received. Either on here or through soundcloud.

The Styx. Darker feel. Rugged bass tones.

Soundcloud

Immigrant Song 2. Uses a South Park vocal cut and is kinda clowny. High end whine to the bass synth.

Soundcloud

Gloom. Big pitch shifting sub line calling and gritty LFOd answer tones. Uses a sample from The Wire.

Soundcloud

Captain Birdseye. A real marmite track. Had some good responses, some negative responses and some indifferent ones. We slapped an auto-tuner on a mic channel and freestyled some deep, love song lyrics. Builds and turns into a stompy full spectrum bass synth.

Soundcloud

Thanks for listening.

I really like the atmosphere of your track, but i think a nastier drop would be on it's place.

Thanks very much for the feedback 1iopen, I've made the changes you've suggested as I agree with them entirely. Here is the final result for others to review - time to try another track!

SesG - thank you for the kind words. i will work on the tune this week and re-post. i am going to add variation to the swooshes, add a real intro, throw in some more fx (reverse, etc) and throw in a booming sub bass.

what you have here is an interesting tune... pretty good stuff considering you've only been producing for 3 months! for advice/critique, the kick is a bit weak- it needs to hit harder. i also think it would do you well to throw in some rises to build up tension for a drop. every tune needs a drop and this doesn't really have much of one... these are fun to make so just sit down, take some time, and get it done :P also, try changing up the lfo rate from time to time. an easy way to do this - go into your vst and assign note velocity to LFO rate. this way, it will make your life a hell of a lot easier when automating your rate :)

Hey guys, back again with my second track, i dont think so much of it myself, it's ok i guess,
made it today pretty much, in a couple hours,
was mainly a song made as an "exercise" while messing round with Massive and a strings VST..
hope you enjoy

i call it "incoming" because i feel like the song "teases" for the drop, but its still only incoming!

Im really new to producing, but I'll give you some feedback anyways!

I really like that singing intro kinda thing.
0:54- nice start to the drums, i like that alot.
1:50, thats a sick sound. i dont know what to call it but its nice
from 2:50 on, has nice ambience type sounds, those are good.

The only thing I would say, is that it could use some wobblebass....but thats only because I love wobblebass, and this track seems to be fine without it. Good track man, if you feel like giving me some feeback on my first track you could. Cheers man!

like already mentioned, could use some wobble bass, or some kind of lead, its great instrumentation, i liked the clicky percussion in the rythm. i forget the name of it. sounds good though.
think you should rework with some sub too!

Again, new to dubstep. So not amazing at this review stuff, ill give you one anyways.

Chill music at the start is nice, good drums with the claps
0:30-nice drop, makes the nice change from the soft pad to the bass
0:58-those bassy sonds starting here sound sick and went well with the bass, maybe wouldve been nice if they kept going a bit longer?
1:32- diggin those sounds as well
1:43- the faster wobble sounds pretty sick. big sounds

Pretty sick track man. If you feel like givin some feedback, you could give me some for the track in the sig. Thanks man!

Cheers for the feedback mate. I didnt use wobble bass because i felt that it didnt go with the vibe of the track. Its more a mellow downtempo roller.

I had a listen to your track. I think the kick drum could do with some eqing it seems to be distorting and has a little too much high end. Ends up clashing with the main lead. Good use of small sounds to spice things up. Got a good feel to it, i think you could maybe use a little les of the wobble on it and bring in some new sounds. If you want to go in the wobble direction then maybe try a bigger drop.

Also that voice sample is a fruity loops one right? Benga beat you to it on his track 'pleasure'!

@ Dubsac Go to the mixer channel that the kick drum is linked to. There are loads of ways to do this but an easy way is to open up the parametric eq on the channel. Play the drum pattern and listen to where you want to reduce the gain or increase it. I would possibly turn it down a little around 300hz+ and up a little around 90 hz. This is obviously a roughish way to do this. But will deffo help! Hope it works for you.

@ Louissmusic cheers, i dont think im gonna add any wobble, its quite a percussive track and it just wouldnt fit in. Thanks mate!

This is an awesome track. The percussion is done very well, specially the vibraslap or whatever it is, and the hats keep things ticking along nicely. And that's some very creative use of sampling/resampling for the vocals. The horns and sub are absolutely sublime! Some of the kicks are a little too weak although I'm sure you'll sort them out when you mixdown properly... I personally would have liked the bass to come back in at 3.12 with an extra layer of something (strings?) to give it a little more substance. IDK though its damn good as it is.
