Any sub-woofer suggestions?

Post by Novelty » Sat Jan 23, 2010 8:47 pm

I searched the forums, but all I came up with was subs in mastering and people breaking their subs..

My question is are there any sub-woofers you guys recommend? I was told last night that I should look into getting a sub-woofer if I'm producing bass heavy music, and while I don't disagree, I don't know what I should be looking for..

I'm not willing to spend more than $300 on a sub-woofer.. just to give you an idea of my price range if you plan on making a suggestion.. Thanks

What monitors are you currently using?

Your cheapest option is probably:

the sbx10 is next on my list of stuff to get, it's nice because they give you a footswitch so you can A/B your mix with the sub and without.

I've got Alesis M1 active monitors thru my Mackie 1202 mixer.. If I boost the low end on the mixer I get more bass (duh), but I don't think that is a reliable method for getting a better feel for the bass i'm puttin out, you know?

any more suggestions/bits of advice?
