Ever since the iPod, Apple only made disappointments IMHO.

And their make-something-update-it-3-months-later-and-make-it-even-more-expensive-stratigy is getting quite boring.

The cheesegraters were grate in their day, still are quite a meaty powerhouse but look at the price of PCs these days. I have a computer at home with 6GB of RAM, 1TB HDD, quad core CPU and a 1GB video card, cost me a third of what it would for a mac of that spec and the samsung HD widescreen monitor was only £200!

You could use it as a kind of monome/lemur type controller. It has some sweet potential as a music tool. If it is under 2,000USD then it is more affordable than a jazz mutant lemur.

I think someone should develop a $20-$30 DJ app that's based off an ableton-style mixing setup (ie: warping tracks plays them at a master bpm, hitting "play" starts track on next bar, etc):



This would essentially be a going-to-a-party-and-your-friend-wanted-you-to-bring-some-tunes or a I'm-on-the-bus-and-I-wonder-what-this-mix-would-sound-like kind of DJ program.

Click "iTunes", search for a song, tap and drag into deck A or deck B, hit "play" and it comes in on the start of the next bar, everything's in time, you fade up either the volume or the 3-band EQ's separately, finish the transition, stop previous track and clear the deck, grab another track, but this one's unwarped, so you tap the "warp" tab which takes you to the warping screen, you save your changes, then tap and drag to the deck and the whole thing keeps going smoothly!

I hope th GUI stays like this tbh

Apple isnt innovative at all in the computer dept. sure the ipod is a big success, and the iphone is just rediculous, but when it comes to computers, they lack big time.

I'm just gonna preface this and say I couldn't give a fuck about the iPad, I'd have no use for it, but it will sell...very well. I also don't have an iPhone.

But do better specs mean a better product? Look at the iPhone, it is a technically inferior phone to almost everything on the market. Yet it is slaying everyone.

Do you think the person who this is aimed at gives a fuck about ram and GHz? No. They care about user experience and a nice looking product. Ever tried downloading an app on a Nokia N95? It's fucking hard and most of the apps are fucking shite. Aesthetics are important to people, more than they'd like to admit, why do people spend money on nice clothes/furniture/cars. rather than purely buying the cheapest thing possible? Because the looks are important to them.

As for the market for the iPad...

Let's look at the Kindle for a second.

The Kindle is the best selling item on Amazon, ever and they sell a lot of shit.

It costs $10 less than the iPad.

Weighs roughly the same amount and is the same size.

But it can only do one thing which is read and download eBooks in black and white.

The iPad can also read Kindle downloads, it is colour, does all sorts of fancy bollocks for $10 more.

The only thing the Kindle has on it is battery life.

Actually, the deal w/ Gillette disposable razors was that Gillette was having a hard time selling 'em to people - they were used to straight razors and the idea of throwing out a shaving implement was totally foreign to 'em - until he made a deal w/ the U.S. Army, who issued them to the troops in one of the world wars (I think WW1.) When those troops got out of the army they then continued to use 'em, and Gillette finally made his mint.
