Server down until the 26th

Post by thc » Fri Jan 20, 2006 1:34 am

Well, I got a lot of traffic due to Dubstep Warz and I'm about to go over my monthly limit of 500 GB. So I've taken down all the sets on my site temporarily. For me, the billing cycle is the 26th-25th. So it will be back up next week on the 26th, 12:01am GMT -7.

Sorry, but I had to do it otherwise my server company would charge me for going over my limit. :(

I thought everyone would be interested to see the bandwidth usage:

As you can see, on the 10th, when Dubstep Warz came out, we did 43 GB. Then the 11th was 51 GB. Then the 12th was 42 GB. Then 13th was 36 GB. So that was 172 GB in 4 days!! Then it seems a lot of people took the weekend off from downloading for some reason. :? Then it picked up again on Monday and has been pretty steady all week.

So anyway, I was getting pretty close to 500 GB, so downloads are down until Jan 26th, 12:01 GMT -7. Then we can burn another 500 GB together again. :D

If people missed some of the recent sets, I upload most of these to TheMixingBowl, a bit torrent site. So that can be another way for people to get stuff.

Done. Should've done it ages ago...but now that I've got around to sorting a Paypal account, it hopefully won't be so long until next time....

Big up thc, boomnoise and all.

Donated.

Not sure it worked though as I clicked 'pay' and it didn't go to another screen it just refreshed the same pay screen.

Can you check whether you received a payment at about 14:12 GMT or thereabouts?

I got ig's. However, I can't accept credit card payments without a business account. I wrote about this in another thread:
i cant accept credit card payments. I have to upgrade to the business account to be able to do that and paypal skims a little off the top of each transaction with that. It's only good to do that if you're running a real business and bringing in lots of money. But it just takes away too much when you're dealing with small donations like I am. So anyway, you HAVE to have a paypal account to be able to donate to me.
:(

I dont see yours though, Logos. You should be able to check your paypal account to see if money was withdrawn or not. Try it again and if it gives you problems again, I'll try to look into it.

Sorry, mate. My fault: I had read that, but I'm not really used to how Paypal works. I'll try again when I've got a moment and I'll get it right this time...!

Ive spoken to thc and i have a dedicated server i will be contributing to the cause, this will be for dnb and dubstep (as per our night). More details to follow.

Between our two servers we have 1700gb of data transfer a month so this should cover us for a good while yet.

I have to get the new version of the noir site up and running but this will have the facility for people (selected registered users) to upload their own track and mixes, so we wont have to rely on any one person to do all the work.

for those who dont have a paypal account and wish to donate with a credit card, we now have a solution. a friend of mine has business account, so you can donate with a credit card to his account and then he will transfer the money to me. so here's his account info:
https://www.paypal.com/xclick/business= ... o@mail.com
