I like this one a lot, nice work! The only things I would change:

It could be the compression of the file (I don't know what size mp3 you uploaded to Soundcloud), but I think the kickdrum stands out a little too much. Maybe low-pass it a little, add a touch of reverb, and lower the volume if necessary.

The drums in the intro are functional for a dj to mix, but they don't really lend anything to the composition...they sound a little stiff and tacked-on.

The part when the drums disappear and it's just the bass and background noises sounds a little too sparse...something else needs to be going on there.

Other than that, well done!

Loving this track, that's my sort of shit! Let me know if you make stuff like this regularly mate and I'll start following you on soundcloud and that!

Doesn't sound like it stands out 'too much' to me, it sounds like a deliberate decision which fits the mix nicely, personally I wouldn't recommend changing it because it sounds nice.

Again, I'm afraid I will have to disagree and say that to me it seems like a deliberate decision to keep things minimal in the introduction and breakdown, it's part of the tunes style and it helps to maintain a relaxed feeling..

Sorry C&D, don't mean to use your advice as examples so blatantly but personally I like this track just the way it is :P

really nice track you've got here. I agree with C&D about the opening drum pattern though, maybe take away every second kick on 1 or something. will make it seem a little more glitchy I reckon. Really nice use of voice samples though man, a truly beautiful track.

No problem, everybody's got their own opinions on things. Those things jumped out at me because in my opinion it made the track sound a bit more amateur compared to the rest. When everything's going on together, it all works, but when some of those things came out, the track sounded a lot less seamless and more loop-based...if it were my tune, I wouldn't want those things to stand out the way they do, but like you said, if it's an artistic decision, then he may well be happy with that.

One of the important parts of taking feedback and criticism is knowing what to apply and what to stand firm on; I've received lots of feedback over the years that I'm glad I didn't follow.

I got drunk last night and posted up a free 320 of an older tune of mine that I thought could have been better...would still like to hear some feedback on it, other than "This is a Burial ripoff" which I already know but I swear wasn't intentional...which is why I'm giving it away

Soundcloud

There should be a link to download the 320 there as well.

Hey I like this! Here's what I would have done differently:

- I feel like the intro spreads the elements of the tune a little too thin...maybe shorten it up a bit to make it a little tighter? It's not terrible, but maybe leaves a not-great first impression when the rest of the tune is a lot stronger than that.

- I would push the bell sound you use further back into the mix; I feel like it works better as a compliment to the melody than it does as an upfront lead sound. This is definitely personal opinion though...it's not a problem, so if you like it that way, by all means keep it.

- I like the drum switchup, reminds me of old electro...I would love to hear an extra element come in that compliments it, maybe something reminiscent of old electro or Chicago house or something.

Nice job though, it got my head nodding! Would definitely dance to it in a club.
