Trying out new synths

Hey guys, I've been using sytrus pretty much exclusively for a while now and I thought I should see what else is out there.

I make all of my sounds from scratch (usually with FM) the main thing I like about sytrus is the waveshaping parameters or whatever they're called (tension, sine shaper, skew, that stuff) I don't know if all FM synths have these but it gives a lot of freedom for making some pretty unique waveforms.

based on that can anyone reccomend me a good synth to try out?

i agreee! BUT having at least 2-3 synths fully mastered in your arsenal will make your sonic palate more varied

If you mainly use FM synthesis try and learn another kind

Subtractive is the easiest option if you can understand FM i'm sure you can understand them all.

You can waveshape post signal too bro if you get a subtract under your belt.

i find most high end virtual synths these days are all capable of the same sounds as each other, to a certain extent... obviously some have slightly different oscillator/filter options, LFO wiring, etc... but for the most part, when i hear tracks with digital synths, they sound pretty similar. it's all about what you can get it to do... that said, having a few different ones doesn't hurt. you don't need dozens, though.

Something that I thinks being missed in all of it is the power in some of the oddest of little vsts that kinda miss alot of the categorising.

These for example... They are rather hard to classify in my mind, aside from being very digital. But, the guys who designed them are an industrial group, and some of these were actually used to synthesize some of the sounds in the transformers movie... I think I did a little more googlequereying then datsik in my search for transformers sounds, n i read about these things on a cinematography tech forum I found. Only got into em the other day, n had a couple bugs with rendering, you have to resample these in FL, least I do... but, thier changing my sound fast.

I'm not a big fan Novakills dev, Bones, whos a BIG fan of Orion. Runs his mouth off a bit @ KVR. Kinda angry dude. Has "Grrr" in his sig. Personally, I think its to promote the band, all the unnecessary angst and all. But that's just me. And the synths are quite gaudy, distracts me if the colors are ruff.

IDK shit about the band, not big on industrial anymore, but some of the noises comin out of that Novakill 111 are pretty fuckin wicked...

I still side with Subtractive Synthesis and then effecting though... It just makes more sense. Sometimes I run into some shit like those n use em for sample generation, n occasionally Ill get a patch done on the FM8, but IDK... never find myself needing FM for anything really... dont wanna sound biased though, it works fucking amazingly.

I've got Cyanide 2 as a waveshaper but I just use it for distortion, it's good for that but it's too hard to use it subtly for getting a digital sound.

I had a quick look at blue, might get the demo for it

If anyone knows any good waveshapers that would be helpful too
