Cubase st-st-stuttering

Any tips on how to fix this, cant afford ram or anything like that, safe.

yeh download asio4all google it

and increase your buffer settings but will give u latency the only real way around it is get more ram.
how much ram have u got?

yes, but I've got the same and have no problems with Nuendo (up to a certain number of VSTs anyway)...

Does it stutter all the time or just when you've got shit loads of plugins running?

A gig would be prefered but with the right settings you should be able to use 512. Adjust your buffer latency settings to resolve the stuttering effect. You can also check to see if there are newer drivers available for your sound card, they may be more efficient... you never know.

hmm, dunno if they'll make much difference really, and most soundcards auto select the buffer. Once you've got too many plugins running you're just gonna have to start boucing some of your channels down. What I do in Nuendo is take offline any effects that consume loads of resource and then turn everything back on when it comes to exporting the finished track...

you can try bouncing your tracks to audio and importing them back so you dont have to use that many plug-ins.

use speed up my pc v3 to sort out all the shit goin on with your pc, defrag all your disks and get rid of the ad and spyware.

Do you use FX sends?
It takes weight off ur CPU.
I started doing all my delays & reverbs that way.
Saves adding same vst inserts on multiply channels.

I dont use sends very often, usually open an instance of a plugin separately for each channel I want it in.

Don't know if Cubase has a CPU meter but try to avoid using too many memory hungry plug ins... e.g. Waves doubler, enigma, stuff like that rapes your machine...

go to start>accessories>system tools and run disk clean up and disk defragmeter.

if you havnt done that in a while it should make a noticable difference, especially the defrag.

If you can for reverbs and delays etc, Its probably best to use sends or bus them or something.

Im shit at explaining stuff.

My cubase runs like shit, SX1 on mac =/

in the windows start menu go to run, then enter "msconfig"

in the start up and sytem tags deselect everything that isn't absolutely neccesary. its a bit trial and error at times but somethings in there just aren't needed and windows has plenty of bullshit niceities. it'll speed up everything alot hopefully.

second the sends advice, unless yr talking compressors or eq's efx are more effective as sends anyhow IMO

I had some of the same issues your describing. Is your version of Cubase cracked or purchased? I have a cracked version which wouldn't work right untill I took off Nuendo and now it works fine. Also, you might want think about reformating your hard drive, I know it's a pain in the ass but it work miracles. Best of luck!

obviously your setup cant handle what you are doing,

cut down on your vsts.....bounce them down to wave

(always save the original cubase file with vst settings though)

as said before some vsts use more cpu

as for narcossists msconfig>startup tip

always google the startup process and see if it relates to your computer
there may be some random process name that relates to your internet or virus program etc.

When producing. turn off your internet (or block with your firewall)
turn off virus scanner and any programs running in the background too.

i thought cubase had a freeze function that locked the sound and freed up system resources that was like bouncing to audio without goin through the process

its been years though and i heard about that functionality after i quit usin it

^yeah it does man, but it doesn't always do what it should and sometimes just gives error msg's or full disk tings when theres plenty of space - think it depends on what plugins yr freezing though
