Lately I've been making the skeletons of tracks in minor pentatonic scales and then adding jazzy/funky melodic or harmonic minor bits in solo areas or sometimes even the hooks.

I like Bb Minor natural scale but my fingers just don't want to play it so as much as I like it I rarely use it.

I really need to quit doing this but I am usually in modes of the key of C. In other words all the white keys but not starting out with C major. I like starting with E. Popular metal mode phrygian. I love that half step between the first chord and the second getmi.

sure, there are minor differences in feel due to different tuning methods... but when it comes to playing, they're all about the same. i like Ab recently, and Eb always gives a nice deep sound to me.. but i realize that's mostly just in my head. it's probably more due to some of my favorite songs of all time being in Eb that i like it, not any difference in sound. also Eb's very good for my voice range, so if i'm singing something that spends a lot of time around the fifth and third, i usually shoot for Eb, F# is nice too.. i like to play F on guitar, also G, C, F#, Ab, B, hell all of 'em  not D tho, unless I want a deep and dramatic transition to the iv chord, then D's good for that.. for piano, same... also Bb i like a lot, Db can be nice.

I used to be a minor like a mofo. Lately, I've been loving d and f minor. Especially f. I just go right to it.

All black keys, which is pentatonic scale of both a major and minor depending on your root note.
