can't stop using the same drum patterns, (kick....snare...Kick, Kick, snare). I wish I knew some more complex patterns I could throw together but I just can't think of any... *sigh*

Oh, this. A thousand times this.shortinos wrote:Make a loop, fix it up, play it on loop for a couple days, think of what i can add to it, add nothing to it. Start new track (rinse and repeat). I have about 100 loops i've made sitting on my harddrive. I like them all but i never progress them into songs. I spend about a week making each loop. Meh
Also, if I finally try tinkering a whole song, I almost every time end up adding piano and/or pure waveforms (Chiptune/8-Bit). Kinda should break myself of that habit, but it just feels so right! :S

Re: Things you can't stop doing?
Pretty negative list here, but.
Can't stop being unable to create the sounds I want.
Can't figure out the third element. Drums, bass, and ?
Can't write a transition.
Can't write a song.
Can't take a section and make a variation on it.
Can't keep my head clear enough to evaluate a beat while I'm working on it. I go from loving beats I'm working on, to hating them. I don't know if it's delusion from the start, over listening, or over working the beats.
