I have watched more films than most from nosferatu to dark city to westworld and there is no fucking way 'most things' were wrong with this film...HowDoIMusic wrote:most thingsPistonsbeneath wrote:TEH FUCKDRTY wrote:DustyBunzzz wrote:

On a shoestring he told an original story and made it look incredible...
if you can't qualify it then you decided to go against the grain...
pacing = spot on
effects = incredible for what he spent
script = superb and original
Ending - Great...maybe could have been slightly improved
Depth Of Meaning = very much there
only sci-fi film to come close of late is moon

fair. 'most things' was a bit extreme....i just found myself laughing at the awful dialogue alot. i agree with the effects thing becasue i hear he didnt spend alot on it.... i just wasnt interested by it.....Pistonsbeneath wrote:I have watched more films than most from nosferatu to dark city to westworld and there is no fucking way 'most things' were wrong with this film...HowDoIMusic wrote:most thingsPistonsbeneath wrote:TEH FUCKDRTY wrote:DustyBunzzz wrote:

Yeah I thought district 9 was proper dump to be honest
The only redeeming factor was everything along the lines of "Heey Praahwn!" as I've got a scabby little sausage dog called Prawny

'Amazing' is way overused these days, I darn't say films deserve such a wordPistonsbeneath wrote:again i have to ask why

Hah, what a strange conclusion to come to. But no, I'm a capitalist tnuc that enjoys eating successful brands of cereals for a start
It was just rather dull and I really didn't connect to the underlying vibes nor the methods in which they manifested, plus hardly anything of the film sticks in my mind and I only saw it a few months back. Can't remember too much, but it didn't feel like an adventure. Sorry I'd have to rewatch it to give you a better answer, but kind of defeats the point of entertainment

Are you generally a fan of sci-i?
What do you mean by connect?
i love many films that i didn't have a personal connection..
didn't really connect with 2001 but i still loved it...
and i don't use the word amazing lightly...my job is ordering in and selling dvds and i have watched many from 20s,30s.40s.50s.60s.70s.......
every decade has good films in it

Unreal! The only reason I can see people saying that District 9 wasn't good is to go against the grain and say it's rubbish just because it's popular.
It's the guy's first film, straight out of film school to this! A highly creative and original take on sci-fi (a dying genre imo), great story, effects to happily sit by huge blockbusters, really good cast and acting, nice original score, some great cinematography, the film stinks of win!

That mentality is hideous, and to see it twice takes the piss. Fuck knows what kinda company you have if this is a usual concept in your life, and something as miniscule as not liking a film can somehow be interpretated as a non conforming rebellious act.DRTY wrote:Unreal! "The Titanic" was one giant ice berg ridden scrotum. That confirms it, I'm a heretic

Na, I see your point, and agree, but you can't say a film like District 9 is rubbish without making your reasons clear, that's why i had ze beef.

BLACK DYNAMITE
Hands down the funniest film I've seen in ages. Nearly pissed myself.
