Nobody's told me what i have done wrong... I need chritisism! I will improve on the next video which shall be Drums and Bass continued. Then the 3rd episode shall be about synthesis and then some kind of self mixing/mastering solutions.

Nice one deps, learned a bit from them, bring on the next ones.
Theres nothing "wrong" with it, its just the way you work, im gonna be implementing more subtractive EQing for sure.
EDIT: what was that little blue eq anyway? came with logic or not? (thought it was an oxford for a sec, please dont say its an oxford)

Re: Logic Pro - Dubstep Production episode 1 - Drums Processing
It was too short, the next one should be 3 hours long, and by the last 10 minutes should contain a bass patch so phat it can't get out the door.

These are fantastic - nice work!
I'm a Logic and electronic music production newb so I'll be watching intently for the next one.
Do you have any insight on how the transient designer works its magic?

Re: Logic Pro - Dubstep Production episode 1 - Drums Processing
nice one, i def look forward to the next one.........so parallel compression is basically doubling the signal and compressing the 2 signal?????why not just slightly compressing one signal????and why did you use the rocket compressor instead of logic's native one?
Re: Logic Pro - Dubstep Production episode 1 - Drums Processing
Its not doubling the signal as such. Im adding an extremely compressed version to a copy of the original, then this extremely compressed version is being mixed in with the original. If you can imagine it keeps all the dynamics of the original, but it 'fills' the gaps between the loud peaks and ..well silence.. Heres a vid i scooped up from youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAT1P0UBF58sigmund floyd wrote:nice one, i def look forward to the next one.........so parallel compression is basically doubling the signal and compressing the 2 signal?????why not just slightly compressing one signal????and why did you use the rocket compressor instead of logic's native one?
I used the rocket compressor because it has extreme attack and release controls, and has precision not normally found in 'average' compresors. Its also great for really slamming drums, so its great for parallel compression.

Scrap that i made my own video -Depone wrote:Its not doubling the signal as such. Sweet video man! I don't think I was crushing enough previously which is why I couldn't get the desired sound!

Errrmmm... Alt click i think. Works for all faders and even bypasses inserts/sends when you click on them. handy!wirez wrote:What's the shortcut key to send 100%? That's a new one to me![]()

Re: Logic Pro - Dubstep Production episode 1 - Drums Processing
Nice video, thanks a lot! Looking forward to the next bunch.
Re: Logic Pro - Dubstep Production episode 1 - Drums Processing
alt+click will bring any setting to 0 (or 0db) in logic-- so it brings the faders to zero, limiter output, send level, etc...wirez wrote:Hehe yeh I trial and errored it in the endDepone wrote:Errrmmm...
