Re: What are you reading?
Can't really say I read... On a year out from a chemistry degree, reading about all those asshole atoms and bastard bonding theories has really ruined the pleasure of reading. Kind of made me unable to ever read a fiction type print again

'Beyond Black' by Hilary Mantel. Starts slow but then has some genuinely creepy bits.

picked up for 50p from a charity shop and part of my failing ongoing efforts to become semi self sufficient-ish

Another bargain picked up for a quid from Borders on it's final day of trading, not quite as good as Krautrocksampler but still pretty entertainingly interesting.

Stunning. Best contemporary novel I've read in years. I might avoid watching the film for a bit because I don't want to ruin it.spooKs wrote:Big list! How'd you find The Road - can't wait to have time to read it.uncle bill wrote:Since Christmas:

Re: What are you reading?
Never been a reader until recently, have just finished The Story Of Muse, great read as my faveourite music ever. Lots of recomendations for mad books Matt Bellamy has read to work through. Currently reading The World According To Clarkson. The way his mind works is class, seems to have the right idea about everything.

Towards the D.M.Z. Later, as he sat in the cabin of the helicopter, Talbot looked down at the
motorway below them. The speeding cars wound through the cloverleaves. The concrete
causeways formed an immense cipher, the templates of an unseen posture. The young woman in
the white dress sat beside him. Her breasts and shoulders recapitulated the forgotten contours of
Karen Novotny’s body, the motion-sculpture of the highways. Afraid to smile at him, she stared
at his hands as if they held some invisible weapon. The flowering tissue of her mouth reminded
him of the porous esplanades of Ernst’s ‘Silence,’ the pumice-like beaches of a dead sea. His
committal into the authority of these two couriers had at last freed him from his memories of
Koester and Catherine Austin. The erosion of that waking landscape continued. Meanwhile the
quasars burned dimly from the dark peaks of the universe, sections of his brain reborn in the
island galaxies.
Re: What are you reading?
What did you think of this? tried reading it a few months ago and got about half way through. Apart from Naked Lunch this is the hardest book i've tried reading, in terms of wtf is going on. Will pick it up again soon.limb wrote:
