My opera-loving friend likes dubstep
Now before anyone gets into a tizzy, I know full well that I don't need the blessing of a musical purist to enjoy dubstep. That being said,
my opera-loving friend likes dubstep!
I played him Pangea's "Neurons" and he said it was 'very interesting' then passed the headphones to his wife for her to listen to lol. This man's a friend of our family who's in his 60's, likes Pavoratti, tube amps and hifi speakers, has a great classical and opera collection, and is a generally enthusiastic man.
I'm definitely past the whole try-and-convert-the-sinners-to-EDMism stage of liking electronic music, but it's always nice to see it cross large gaps and reach someone who wasn't necessarily looking for it!

Nah, it wasn't the whole "that's interesting", then change the subject. He was like "That's interesting!", and then went on to talk about technology in music and how computer-generated sounds, even though he'd never listened to electronic music in his life, are the future, comparing them to how at one point, the piano was considered new technology when it replaced the harpsichord, which had to be plucked.
The good feeling I got out of talking to him is the reassurance that we're not all a bunch of crazy people, that good music is good music, no matter how it's made - in a concert hall or on a computer.
