Dubstep taking over my life

Post by suburban bather » Sat Jan 21, 2006 7:14 pm

Whats up!

I'm new here so I thought I'd introduce myself.

I just recently discovered dubstep after searching for music similar to Dizzee Rascal and Lady Sov. Found Vex'd, Grime 1 and 2 comps., DJ Youngsta's Duballstars set on Tempa, and am waiting for DJ Hatcha's to arrive in the mail.

I use Ableton Live 5, Reaktor 5, and Absynth 2. I'm just starting to get a good workflow or understanding of how to get a decent track going using the tools that the apps I use provide.

Looking forward to see where this genre goes.

Ennit. Fucking great music, but only music nonetheless.

Hey, I live in Waldorf, Maryland. Bout 30min. from Washington DC(traffic permitting).

Sorry, I did'nt literally mean Dubstep is taking over my life. I was just expressing how much I like it. Yea, music is life. I just wish life did not have to include work and relationships, well most of the time atleast

I checked out Rinsefm, and the set downloads were not happening. Too much traffic at the time? I found some here though. http://www.blentwell.com/tags.php/dubstep

Thanks for the welcome!

Peace
Thomas

the thing is it can take over your life if you let it...

...I try to do other stuff just to get totally away from it

like this...

http://homepage.mac.com/rebekahwild/PhotoAlbum5.html

10 days on the wild westcoast of New Zealand helping some mates put together a puppet show on the beach as part of a drfitwood and sand festival, where people turn up and make sculpture from whatever is lying on the beach...

...was heaps of fun, had the bed in the back of the van and just slept facing the beach or wherever we felt like parking

got to see the sun set into the sea and a full moon rising over the beach...

...pretty undubstep but we might be collaborating on another show where we do the scary dark urban soundtrak

^^^

you are so NZ bro ... like a blazed & dreaded mascot for the land of the long white cloud.

Suburban Bather, keep chking the Rinse site as it seems to be undergoing some major upgrading at the moment.

Music might not be LIFE but its how we remember how and why we're moving through life.

^^^yeah well you have to compensate somehow for the lack of nightlife and decent gigs...

...only thing drawing punters to gigs here is mostly d'n'b heavyweights well past their prime, rock dinosaurs for the oldies and pop opera

and a bit of hiphop, but it takes the likes of fitty to draw a decent crowd to a stadium...

As a production rigger/technician on gigs i work most of that shit anyway and tend to just turn up for work but it's still only a job, nothing to get excited about

...seems silly to hang around a city at night when there is a whole expansive semi wilderness at your doorstep

irie halfsteppas in a natural surrounding sound chill and kind of fitting...

...I like how you say music creates memories and snapshot soundtraks to watershed moments

Well, since Dizzee and Sov. are Grime, I did a search on Grime, which led me to the Grime comps. from Rephlex. I found out the music on those comps. are Dubstep, so here I am.

Techno, DnB, and Dub all rolled into one. Can't get any better than this.
