krk rokit 6...any thoughts?

Post by Pete MacLeod » Sun Feb 28, 2010 5:33 pm

wanting to improve my production set up and have been looking at the krk rokit 6s. Would get the 8s but I have a really small room so heard thats not a good idea.

Will the 6s be decent for sub?

cheers

ihave these i think that they are pretty good, can hear a fair bit of sub but struggles with the really low stuff! and can be a bit boxxy in the lower/mid range sometimes so i tend to rolll things off a bit too much! but overall good for the price! :D

I first had the 5's and loved them. Once I got my production a little better, i wanted something a bit bigger so I got the 8's. There great!! can't say enough good about them. They put out a nice true flat sound. I think the 6's go down to 53hz and the 8's go down to about 50.

8" go down to 44 and 6" go down to 48 I think. I got the 6's and the 10" sub and my productions sound much better now, mind you I was producing on some sony headphones before.

With out the sub you can still hear down to like 38 hrts but there is a difference on volume. so I'd watch my levels.

with the 8s and you can probably get away without the sub. with the 6s i struggle to hear the lowend and have learned to compensate but i am looking to buy a studio sub very soon.

the 6s are the flatest out of the krk rokit range which is what you want
the 5s dont have enough low end and the 8s have too much

I've just got these babies, first monitors. I did quite a bit of comparison with the rokits, the latter certainly has a fuller low end but they sound so muddy compared with the yamahas. There is so much space in the mids and highs with these, and you can always add a sub to provide the lows if needs be. I'm currently doing the subs on my ultrasones (sub plays havoc in my room anyway so its better with the ultrasones) and everything else on the yamahas. also spotted that joker and ikonika both use these so you're in good company bro

True that, I got the 6/10 combo cuz the 8s just don't have the high end shine that I was looking for. Plus I like to hear the low end of my sub during mixdown. It has helped me achieve a higher quality end result.
