Gotta say I am a bit disappointed to see Skream picked up best DJ. No offence to the bloke but I really don't get why he's so popular, he just doesn't 'do it' for me I guess, but obviously thousands of people think I am wrong :D

Glad to see Joker picked up an award.

I thought the same at first, but I'm alright with it. He ALWAYS shows us something special during the sessions...

But yeah, I'm not really surprised at some of the results. My biggest wish was for Hyetal to win best new producer, but I know that was a long shot given the popularity and brilliance of Kryptic Minds, the Joy Orbison fiasco, and some of the "dirtier" stuff being simply more popular.

You have to think there's a lot of casual fans that don't hang out here all day at work (like me), or don't feel the motivation to dig. Nonetheless big up Dubway, I enjoyed the whole process thoroughly!
hey, you wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the john..so why do you let these hooligans tear down the biz?

Some of these are a bit :| tbh. Hatcha's right about self publicity; if you are constantly spamming facebook, twitter, mail lists ect. i don't see how you can be happy winning the award. Its false.

But in fairness votes are votes. Big up all the people who won and deserved it. :D

I hadn't noticed before, but Starkey not even getting a nod for Best Producer blows my mind, especially after hearing clips for the new album. I guess that shows just how much good music we're treated to.

It's all about those people who are humble enough not to come first or second but still aware that they produce great music, and are aware that we know they do etc etc :U:

Some people aren't into it for competition, it's only an internet forum at the end of the day and I doubt more than 5% of the active people on here have the same tastes. We are all winners at the end of the day (sort of).

Let the forums do the talking and the raves do the walking.

Btw, I came first in a category, not like it matters but just to shut those up who want to flame bait and think I'm a bad loser.

Or maybe if people didn't feel the need to either a) try to literally instill conspiracy/paranoia/slander before the results are even posted, or b) bitch about who won insinuating they won by unethical means.

Frankly, this thread made me sad, does everyone here have a fucking agenda?

Hatcha, no offense, but most of the folks here that were nominated don't have the popularity or established respect/reputation that you've got over the years. Sure some of the self-promo that was brought forth wasn't the most virtuous, but it's hard as hell to get a foothold or even any attention for what one does in this scene. And then, to be even more frank, it's even harder if you're not in the UK(again, no offense, but this is something you can't relate to). People gotta do what they can to get attention, and for as many folks that see it as distasteful, there will be others who are drawn.

It's never going to be as simple as someone getting judged on their own output/merits/talent, as sad as it is to say, I can assure you of that.

edit: For the record('cause I'd rather not see people assume otherwise), the most I did to drum up votes for anything was to shout out that SubFM get some votes on my show, that's it.
