DUBSTEP FORUM COMPILATION DETAILS

Post by andythetwig » Mon Jan 23, 2006 12:21 pm

All submissions welcome.

 Producers are allowed to upload a maximum of 3 original tracks in mp3 format.
 The selection will be made by N-Type from the available tracks.
 Selected producers will then be asked by email to submit full quality wavs- so please remember to include your email in the file name!
 N-Type will then mix the tracks and the result will be available for download from your favourite mp3 store. Proceeds will go towards funding Dubstep forum projects (to be confirmed)

 Deadline for submissions: 17.02.06

# up to three mp3 files (320 kbps max) per person may be submitted (50mb limit)
# naming convention: artist-title(email).mp3

Any rules about submitting signed/unsigned tracks?
Obviously with label consent where necessary ;)

The compilation really should be limited to new producers who haven't had stuff out.

interesting issue:

having some "names" will help raise the profile of the compilation...

but the whole point of the thing is to give unknowns exposure...

would it be unfair to exclude everybody who's had a release?

More opinions please!

Yeah, is there a deadline for this?

Very good point. A few tunes from some ''known heads'' but more from some ''unknown heads'' should do nicely. There are alot of hard working producers that dont get a look in because they are ''unknown''.This compilation would help those heads and the Dubstep scene equally.

Agreed. I think it would be good to have a few tracks from known producers, but the focus should be on exposing new and unheard producers.

ok, i've asked digi diana to update the upload page to list the files that have uploaded successfully.

the reason we can't give everyone ftp access is that some producers do not want their work accessible to all (and I haven't got enough time to set up individual logins for every producer)

Ohh the rush. A fkin hectic week at work (worst is yet to come) and then I should be able to assemble (well, just finish) a whole dbstep track in less than a month.

Now who doesn't like challenges..
