i think what no one wants to acknowledge is that dubstep is still underground. yall act like everybody has been wanking off to burial as much as you have, well guess what. all those "students" that you're hating on probably just didnt hear of dubstep until recently. this doesnt make them wrong , it makes them ignorant. maybe they havent had a full on nerd fest listening to all of burials stuff. maybe they'd like it if they were educated on it. or maybe not. who cares

As a punter who actually has a lot of love for the sound this has gotta be one of the most annoying fucking things I ever see at gigs, makes me want to hit the stnuc. Anyways, Mt. Eden = fail. Wanky, untalented production who should stick to their afterparties up in Aucks. Already been said a hundred times on this thread but seriously, remixing Burial? What the fuck is wrong with you?

He produces simple easy listening dubstep and most of it is remixes from what I can see. He's not bad, just not amazing.

all aboard the bandwagon..

his interview says it all really
H: Anything else… dubstep?

J: The thing is…I know a song when I hear one but I don’t really know the artist or the name of it…Especially with dubstep. I’m kind of “ooohhh yeah I recognize this song”

H: I know what you mean. Of all the great musical acts in the world, who would you like to see/see again?

J: [Pause] Andy C...again. And Chase AND Status…preferably with both playing. We went to Fu to see them and only one of them turned up. It might be a better performance if it was both of them but... Also I’d like to see Benga and Skream again.
Guy needs to do abit of reading and understand what makes this sound what it is.

I'm a student and must admit a bit annoyed at 'dubstep' nights recently been following this genre since early 07 and theres so much fail in the new stuff. Like I asked for some dubstep a couple weeks back and they put of skream's in for the kill remix, which fair play pretty decent but when I go back next week and ask for dubstep and all they got is that. Im like branch out if you at least wanna put dubstep as one of your genres.

As for Mt.Eden it's definitely popular with a lot of my mates that Ive introduced dubstep to, Im not sure why tbh. :\

Absolutely, you can. I'm not his pr lady, but I'll tell you what I think of him: I think he made 3 good songs, sweet, rasputin and gargoyle, a short while ago, but I don't know if he's going anywhere new in the future. If his recent paris mix represents the sound we should expect to hear from him in the future, I'm not too excited.

March of the mallards is a sick tune too

Phaseone is the only person that's pulled out a decent Burial remix (IMHO), rest are just pants.
I don't see it as a crime to remix him though.. I mean come on, get a grip.
He's not a fucking deity. People that wank off over Burial piss me off more than little teeny boppers that like this Mt. Eden dude.
bet a majority of people who bum rush him probably haven't even sat down and listened to all his productions. They just hear the "if you don't know Burial, you don't know Dubstep" and jump on the bandwagon having only heard tunes like Archangel and Unite, and think they know everything better than everyone.. elistist pompus pricks. Stop your bitching and moaning about stuff you don't like.. and just don't listen to it. It's not gonna go away, so accept it and get on with your life.

/topic

I agree with the o/p.
Yeah.. This guys nothing special, but he's no way near the 'worst' producer evar omgz i wanna stab him for remixing MY Burial </3 :'(
The reason's he's so popular.. is like most people have said already, YouTube.. and also the fact that he's given away practically everything he's produced.
It's easy listening iPod music. This thread is all also gonna help make him more popular, so i'm sure he'd like to thank you all for that. lol
