Re: How To Make Vocal Bass
Subtactive-Effect synthesis is the only thing about productions, outside of reverb compression n delay, which I understand, even remotely. haha. Glad I can help someone though, its a trial n error game, but eventually youll see sine wavs like putty...LordBid wrote:Hey Basic A I just wanna make a shoutout to ya for providing this info in such a clear manner! Im sick of the vocal bass threads too, but, as you can tell, I called it a long time ago that even if we answered the question, theyll still show up.

Re: How To Make Vocal Bass
forma-8's filter is hella tight (better than WOW's filter imho) but there is no native LFO in forma-8 - so it is difficult to wobble it unless you automate and draw in the oscillationsBasic A wrote:forma-8 and one called just plain 'Formant Filter'
also, as a side note, when you formant filter, make sure whatever underlying track you are filtering has a lot of harmonics/crispyness - otherwise the formant filter has nothing to filter... ie a sine wave won't formant filter worth a shit but a square / saw / PWM wave will

Re: How To Make Vocal Bass
use massive. select a formant mode for a wave. modulate it.

If there was a vocal bass sticky maybe this wouldn't get asked two times a day? Good idea?

Re: How To Make Vocal Bass
run an instance of dblue_glitch over just about any bassline you've wobbled, erase all other effects in the glitch and make it one long bitchrusher (the light blue one i believe
). play with the amount of crush....
also you'll probably wanna lower the cutoff "peak" level in your LFO automation. basically, you probably wont want your bass sound to come completely "out" of the filter, wanna keep it to where most of your high end isnt coming out, more "subby" wobbles if you will.
hope that makes sense.
play with the amount of crush and the depth of the automation on the filter you're wobbling with and you'll find a good sound. then tweak the wavforms of the bassline a lil and see if you can come up with something that sounds best with the crusher on.

Re: How To Make Vocal Bass
sharmaji - how exactly do you modulate the formant setting in massive?
Basic a - does formant filter, the vst you refer to have a built in LFO, if not how or which parameters do you automate the modulation of?
Lastly for anyone - do you guys sample different yohs and yahs and yehs so when you can add them into any new song you are making or do you design and keep the automation for each song individually? If sampling, do you sample a bunch of variations to plug into sequencer or just one sample and plug into a sampler and make bassline or added talking bleeps....
