16+ Dubstep gigs? Very rare, why?

Post by Jexton » Fri Mar 12, 2010 9:36 pm

Why is it so hard to find ANY live dubstep artists that play in clubs for 16+? it is always 18+ because they are in nightclubs. I think it is unfair that such a large and enthusiastic audience is excluded from so many gigs, i knew that if they were available we would go to one atleast every two weeks because the love for a bitta dub is just so strong! it is an ever increasing genre that is becoming more and more popular, but a proportion of fans are being left out on such movement ):

Or am i just blind and shit at researching?

It's because all us bitter old assholes can't stand your full heads of hair and lack of beer guts.

ALWAYS annoys me so much when people say 'dub' instead of 'dubstep'.

back on topic - get a fake id

alternatively, you could just got to something like let's go crazy or utr - overpriced, bullshit crowd of testosterone fuelled boys trying to shag anything in sight but i dunno if that's your scene..
..you will know your responsibility..

yeah, fake id is always the way to go,,, just walk around campus untill you see someone who looks kinda like you and see how much it takes to part them with their id. since you can get another for 25, usually 125 is a good going rate

Sorry! DUBSTEP :D. well cos we don't have beer guts it won't feel so crowded! ;) good points guys, i just don't think getting a fake id should be the only way of having a chance at getting in. "overpriced, bullshit crowd of testosterone fuelled boys trying to shag anything in sight but i dunno if that's your scene.." and no that's not my kinda scene! they're the dicks who can't just relax and dance, have to cause a fight or something : |. Alex from dubstep.fm suggested just writing in the promoters etc and question them about the age restrictions etc, but i don't know how much of an effect that would have?

Pricey shit mayne, If you're like me and your beauty is so exquisite and unique that there aren't many people that look like you around, then just buy a cheap one from one of those ID places. They won't work everywhere (which can be really annoying) but they will work some places. You just feel like an utter dickhead when giving it to them (and at least one person will laugh or ask if you're gonna pay with monopoly money too).

I had one til I turned 18 and I got in a few places. Alot of nights didnt even check my ID (was well haps when I just strolled in mass on my ones) so that might be worth a go if you wanna risk it for a biscuit.

haha, yeah well at the moment that seems like my best bet, but a tenner to get the train to the venue and all the general hassle of travelling, I don't reeeeeally look 18, is it worth trying that once a week? i guess it would be, but i just wish it'd be easier. I WANT TO BE DOING IT THE LEGAL WAY! haha, but i guess that's just no fun :P

i got a star travel card from sta travel. they didn't ask for any proof of age so you could just lie and tell them a fake birthday.
It cost 7 quid and worked everywhere in manchetser. got into warehouse project, sankeys, paradise factory....then some scottish bouncer who was on every door clocked on but i was 18 then so it was live.

I think 16+ gigs are rare cos 1. its a hassle 2. it gives off the image (to me) that the night is more commercial and less about the music ....more about making as much money as possible by maximizing people through the door. college kids are a massive market cos every1 still chills in a massive group b4 they all go off to uni etc

theres probably a long winded answer for this with many reasons, but in short...

its just not worth it.

i'd say some of it is the mixing of 21+ alcohol group with all age or 16+ along with maturity. certain problems and attitudes are avoidable by limiting the age, i suppose. it definitely isn't 100% or even close, but for example...

i tried to get my then 26 year old friend into parties. he acts 16. the entire night he was apparantly only concerned with finding someone to have sex with, so once i saw that he almost did i let him know we were leaving. i haven't been to a party since. if you aren't there to hear music and dance, then you should be somewhere else. that's maybe just my opinion. there would be less people looking for a fight or trying to have public sex, all while ruining it for decent people.

thats argueable tho, cos theres plenty of club nights where people are soley there for finding sex or to pull. its probably the more common function of a "night club" than for music and dancing so you cant really blame people for acting like that at a more music orientated rave, if all there used to is clubbin and goin on the pull.
