k...i had a bit more of a play around with my experiment & this is what has come out so far. think i might play around with it tommorow on the P.A, just bin jahmn the headphones(since the mrs hates it when i rumble the house when she wants ta sleep.lol). trying to develop the sound into something more. really i think its coming along mean as. In the studio tomorrow arvo, so ill make a whole heap of percussion sample & maybe a few vocal tracks to chuck in the matrix! chea

heres the 2nd generation, just past the foundations, still sus the bassline proper. add more percussion, & try to find the flow.

^ Ease up on the reverb tail for the snares a bit, the song just sounds like an intro so far, add a break and then bring in another section with more percussive elements and more developed bass.

@deadcell

No i think you should kill all of the high end fuzz on the sub bass, and maybe go up on octave and slow down the pattern/lfo. It just seems to be too low and close the same frequency off the kick. And the pattern is sick.

DJ Train Wreck:

Try adding some simple hats and rides to help the rhythm, and some gated hi-pass filter sweeps towards the end of every other bar, whack a lovely sub drone ubder it between 1 and 3 and you got yourself quite a nice dark tune

Hexade:

Productions nice, good choice of sounds, I just think there's no space in the bass and the midrange synths. Try experimenting with the placement of the notes, it all feels a little rigid. The sounds themselves are sweet tho.

Brettheaslewood:

That kick's got plenty of high end in it, but it doesn't quite sit right, and I can't really tell you why, ha, maybe it's not compressed quite in time. And I'd stick some other kind of bass tone in at the end, like some reverberated long warm drone, carefully placed? That's what I would do, heh.
Nice tune, can't wait to hear what the vocals are like :p

Phantom Badger:

Yeah man, finish it! Feelin that.

Been an age since I posted in this thread, but this one's kinda driving me mad. It needs something else in the first drop @1:22, not quite sure what tho, and are the drums a bit too much in places? Should I strip a little back? Any other feedback welcome!

@soulshyn: Its a good effort so far, feels a bit empty at the moment, not much going on in the percussive range, mix it up a little.

@hexade: Good start, not sure about your note choice in the intro, its like "Happy Yay" "Oh wait, Minor, sad :(" etc, and be careful about using drum rolls, 3 buildups can lose people interest.

Something generic I've started work on about an hour ago, I've worked in an entirely different way than I usually would and I feel the quality is slightly higher than my other tracks.

Not much so far, but hopefully enough to get ideas. PS: I realise that wobble isnt sitting at the right level, Just realised.

This is my first track where ive actually gotten this far normally i hear the song too much and get over it hahaha. Just started getting into producing in the last couple of months and ive decided to study the bible before i try and make another track. This one could do with some good mastering its definately not at a producing level. Let me know what you think

cheers guys
Good stuff for your first time!

I think drums are the main problem, more specifically the hi-hats and the snares. After the drop it seems to either be only one hi-hat playing or nothing at all. Try and get 3 or 4 different hat samples, so they sound similiar but slightly different qualities such as pitch. Give them a good shuffle and it helps a lot. I've started to steer away from hi-hats as a matter of fact, i'm using cymbals and rides, shuffling them about and inserting a delay - you can hear that in my work in progress track in my sig. Think it fills out my sample track, without all the cymbals it'd sound really bare.

Snare wise, it almost sounds like a rimshot? May be the sound you're going for and that's fine, but i'd imagine you're wanting a hard hitting snare to go with the bassline. Find a few nice snare samples (Buy the Vengeance House pack!) and layer them up - perhaps add a little distortion and a slight reverb.

I think that the vocal sample in the middle is too long. Love the rewind, personally i'd keep that, keep that initial 'WHAT!' and then drop straight back in. Not a big fan of all the gangsta dialogue that comes in afterwards haha. Also like the rise and the delayed 'side side side' and then the pitchshift. Perhaps use that inside the first drop, and then do what i said with the rewind and the 'what!' in the middle?

Bassline sounds are great, if you want to get variation to the main bassline open up 2 or 3 instances of the same bassline synth and change the settings slightly. The other way would be to automate the vowel filter (sounds like it anyway?) on the bassline so it moves more.

Overall a nice little track for your first time man. Keep it up and let me know how it goes!
thanks for the feedback guys especially marshy, im taking your advise with drums ill have a new version of the trackup in a couple of days with some better drums and also with what you said about the bassline. Main prob ive been having is with bass, in massive if i have osc 1 as sin-triangle -24 pitch and osc 2 -24 and whatever wave, there isnt enough bass output. I wanted more bass good quality bass without using an EQ yet. So what i did with that track was i made just an osc 1 - 24 sin tri and added a sub bas with an ableton instrument so there 2 basses running if you can understand that. I know it wouldnt sound good on big speakers, so does anyone have just a quick tip about making a decent bass track i read through the bible but it didnt answer exactly what i wanted it was a bit too technical...

cheers

yo kam, at 1.21 you need a drum fill, either a build up kick roll or snare roll

Nice try. you should maybe turn most of the percussions up or try layering cuz to me they sound a bit weak might be my shitty head fones. the lead little sound is alright but the lead bass isnt all that great but ull get the hang of that over time

i like the overall vibe, but i think something like another higher synth, stabs maybe, would complement the mid range cack

@ deadnoise, like it,bass is nice and the drums sound raw, nice progress to the track

@tripwire,yeah i like this bit but some the dubstep bass bits kind of sound out of synce to the time of ur kicks/drops,needs cleaned up a bit more and it would sound sweet, nice sound though fair play

This is a bit ive been workin on,not to heavy at all, feedback would be great, cheers folks
