In the two months since killing Batler with their DJ set in January, a lot has changed for the Sofia-based 1000names. Since then they’ve completed The Illuminated Man, which will be the first ever full length LP/CD released on the UK’s Black Acre label. They’ve also been invited to play by Low End Theory in LA, had more than 4,000 downloads (!) of their mix for Electronic Explorations and been featured by Pitchfork, the hugely influential American webzine which could take them into a whole new league.
Now they bring us the premiere of their new live show before embarking on a tour of Germany and UK in April.
FILTERCUTTER
Stefan Filtercutter was the first artist to sign to the label so it was fitting he was the first artist to get released. SVET001: 1UP by Filtercutter came out on vinyl on 8 February 2010 and on digital a few weeks later. It was a slow burner, getting charted by XLR8R magazine and Mark Pritchard (Harmonic 313/Jedi Knights) and featuring on mixes and internet discussions from Japan to Russia to brazil. It also got Stefan invited to play in Vienna, which in turn made him realise he needed to get a proper live set together. New gear, new tracks and a new approach – we can’t wait to see the results.
PIECE OF SHH…
Goran Piece of Shh… has been performing shows for a while, both as part of Belgradeyard Sound System and on his own, where he’s played festivals in Netherlands, Germany, and Slovakia among others, and he’s just confirmed a month long tour of the USA as part of the dis-patch crew.
His music has recently taken a new direction, dropping the tempo and upping the danceability, moving into the kind of syncopated garage/2step style currently being rinsed by artists such as Untold, TRG or L-Vis 1990. This is all good news since his debut solo release will come out as SVET003 in just a little while.
DJ support comes from glitch monster FELONY FLATS, now starting to make a name internationally, and ex-pat Brit and Svetlana boss ABDUL TOM, and we’re very happy to feature for the second time visuals from KIBORZ and MCEMNISI who made the 1UP video.
We’ll also be showing some exclusive new animated video material from BISKOTEKA and LABELLINI in London.
We also have our SVET001 tees available. Made in a special loose “hip hop” fit in undyed cotton with extra stitching and neck lining they are objects of desire and, um, _possibly_ some vinyl, depending on the Serbian post office.
