I'll give you the same answer Jack gives when people ask him if his music is "really dubstep": don't know, don't care

If you read his interview on his electronic explorations mix, you'll see he says it's composed of dubstep that sounds like house and house that sounds like dubstep, to him at least. To me, untolds sound is the very soul of the original ideals of dubstep. It's all perspective tho, I'm guilty of calling it all dubstep. Even your tunes, which you know I love

You know I feel the same way, I've only been into dubstep for a little over a year and I already can feel it becoming mainstream. I went to the Caspa and dubpolice show here in Denver a couple weeks ago and was extremely disappointed. I HATED the crowed that showed up, it wasn't people who were into the actual music. It was assholes going to get fucked up and party like it was a damn rave. Don't get me wrong I love going to shows and doing a little molly but come on. Didn't help that Caspa couldn't even play a damn track without stopping to promo up his label. Not to mention how he would do it RIGHT after the drops, fuck it was very annoying to say the least.

Oh well like others said there is still good stuff coming out you just have to look for it.

If you don't capitalize the first word of your sentences and end them with a period, then you don't know what you're talking about.

^^ See, anyone can say 'If not X, then not Y'. Doesn't make it true.

What does this all mean? Well, it means we're handsome devils with fast cars and a large houses, of course!

Actually, not all dubstep has a snare on the third.
Deep, dark dungeon sounds.

DGM Dubstep wrote:I think everyone should stop crying about their 'scene' being taken over and losing sleep over the fact that "chavvy people are listening to midrange wobble with chainsaw noises" who gives a fuck????

If people like midrange wobble or even pretend to like it because thats what is huge right now then let them like it! Just because you are partial to more original sub bass deep dubstep doesn't mean to say you should hate on everything else...its just progression in the music...people are just doing their own thing, at the end of the day chances are they are influenced by the same people you are...its just their take on the music...whats the big problem with the filthy tunes? or the metal influenced ones?

i say if you lot are really THAT bothered about being pigeon holed by people when you say you like "dubstep", because of this new popular scene thats recently blown up. Then maybe its you with the issue, you obviously care to much about what people think about you, or your 'underground scene' rather than the music....I LOVE dubstep...and i dont care if people think its lame or fadd that i will grow out of...because i know that in years to come i'll still be appreciating the likes of Digital Mystikz, Artwork, Datsik, Skream and everyone else who makes this great music....
The problem with your post is it's sheer ignorance...

It's regression first and foremost...let's clear that up...dubstep was a haven for creative minds & proper producers from all the other electronic scenes around at that time and it's now regressed backwards to being in the same boat as d&b was...

Chances are they have no clue who the real godfathers are...i very much doubt they have a clue about proper dubstep at all...

I have no issue with any one genre...just the sound we are discussing here is synonymous now with extremely generic formulas...of course it can be good but no-one wants to make that stuff...it's all about who can be the most filthy and comically aggressive & hard sounding...

There' no balance....all people are asking for at raves now are remixes of the top 40 and the most obviously awful dumbed down posturing nonsense...they even have the nerve to tell older heads that what they're playing isn't dubstep BECAUSE it isn't that shit they think wrongly is dubstep...

There is awesome skullstep/wobblers/metalstep about but that stuff isn't whats being caned....vex'd, goth trad, luke envoy, broken note, coki, milanese..just off the top of my head are light years ahead of these ten a penny producers that it seems merely have to make a comedy bassline or perhaps have someone meowing on their track or maybe saying ginger tnuc over and over to become the next big thing in the scene.....substance is not something these people are interested in or receptive to...if you play any amazing wobblers or ultra aggressive stuff then the student n-dubz hat wearing crowd don't wanna know...it has to be throw away garbage before it even enters their conciousness....

I have no problem with how i am viewed...i just think it's a shame for dubstep that i guess a lot of amazing producers will end up going elsewhere/not get booked anymore due to the intense demand for crap from the posh student takeover crew..

& for the record 'chav' is a stupid word and the type of people i think you are alluding to are more welcome at an event with me playing than tom, imogen, tarqwin & penelope...

one love

I ended up playing a 2 1/2 hour set last night, A girl requested 768 by Kryptic Minds, somebody else requested Badman, people were shocking out to pretty much everything i dropped, Jack Sparrow - The Chase and Data - Doors of Perception in particular went off. My faith got a little boost, there are people out there that still like good music. This was also a very student dominated crowd, so to be fair you cant really say they are ALL just into aggy.

Don't be a twat. The 'assholes' are the paying punters that are probally keeping the scene alive in your city. If people want to go and get fucked at a night, there is nothing wrong with it, just let them get on with it and do your own thing. Would you prefer all these people to not turn up and Caspa etc. play to 20 heads who 'care about the music'? What did you really expect at a dub police night anyway?

mate! i felt like a bit of a dick when i missed you're set. I arrived at like 11:30, so turns out i actually caught the last bit of your set :D sounded pretty tight man.

I got moved to 2:30-3:30, and i was SO SO SO fucking annoyed how they sorted out the set list.
the guy before me couldn't mix to save his life, this is how his set went.. serato -> cue point for drop -> slap across corssfader -> repeat. no mixing involved what so ever, and when he did, it was a fucking one way ticket to trainwreck central.

made me look fucking awesome tho :D hahaha

haha whaaa? How can the promoter let such things happen? I was meaning to ask you actually, do you use serato aswell? It's just that I'm off to Brookes this year and I really can't bring all my vinyl so i was thinking about selling off all the vinyl i have that i can buy a digital FLAC/WAV copy of and buying tractor or serato?..
BOOMsHaNKA!an interception!
