YLEM’s production points to influences that chart the spectrum of music, with beats that pay homage to hip hop, drum n bass, trip hop and metal. Whether it be dark, rolling, wobbly, bouncy, grimey, melodic or whatever direction he chooses, his focus is on developing his own flavour of beats and bass.

YLEM’s sets are comprised solely of his own production and have been described as energetic and intelligent, blending complex beats with chest-shaking subs and brooding, organic grooves. YLEM has supported many of the hard hitters to grace the shores of Oz such as Plastician, Zed Bias and Joker.

YLEM is also the promoter of Perths only local Dubstep night Watt Hz, a monthly night now at Bar Open on Saturday nights, representing the sound of all things dubby. YLEM is also heavily involved with local hip hop heads The Community assisting with the monthly night at the Velvet Lounge.

After releasing the Primaudial mixtape in 2008 to positive feedback, 2009 has seen YLEM's first official release on US label, Alterkation (ALT001). His track, Flying High, kept the Debut EP also featuring Illoom(US) and Surpass(US) bobbing around the top ten on Digital-Tunes for two weeks. His debut EP, Matters of Matter, is now available for download

Most recently, YLEM has been invited the co-host BASS CHECK! on Perth's most popular community radio show RTRFM 92.1. On air every Tuesday from 11-1 [GMT+8].

F's debut album 'Energy Distortion' finally lands on CD following the epic 5x12"s teasers. The French stepper has carved out a well defined niche for himself on the periphery of the dubstep scene with a string of sturdy releases for 7even Recordings. His first album is a heavy statement of dub-tech intents, succinctly finding a maleable flex point between techno and garage enhanced with classic dub processing, continuing from where the Chain Reaction label left us but inna 2010 dubstep style. 'Energy Distortion' includes 13 permutations on this idea, swinging from more Detroit-inflected Shed-style killers like 'See The Light' to stripped down 4/4 garage functions on 'Perspective' and well-studied broken beat structures on 'Funk Injection', reminding of his peers 2562 or Martyn and the CD exclusives 'Hologram', 'Shift' and 'Another Place'. F stands out from the crowd with his rhythmic programming, giving his drums a distinctive, bristling shuffle that could be compared to the signature moves of Anthony Shakir, without overusing any one pattern sequence, ensuring his rhythmic energy is in a constant state of flux. We were first blown away by Masia One through her work with ill.gates & Meesha on the track ‘Irma Vep’ released on ill.gates album Autopirate (MutiCD006) and henceforth discovered her album PULAU .

We at Phantom Hertz are proud to present our second digital release, a three track EP from Southern California’s Subfreq. All three tracks share a dark but danceable vibe, while remaining intelligent and progressive. Subfreq draws on his past production knowledge of drum ‘n bass and house music, and combines these techniques along with mind melting multi-layered bass and steppy rhythms to create a truly unique and diverse exploration into dubstep. All three tracks have proven to be dance floor favorites in the club, and are powerful additions to any dubstep dj's digital crate.

All tracks are mastered at sTicKy keys studios in Phoenix, AZ.
