Yeah I spoke to Kromestar, he said there were like 10 people there dancing about. Shame it 's a good venue but off the beaten track and people in Manchester only go out if the place is on their doorstep. There was loads else on also, I had a feeling it was gonna struggle.

Never mind we've got Truth landing on Friday in Manchester's most amazing new venue, on a phat rig and it's just off Oxford Road so all good basically. Get involved.

iv gota come from salford to go ANYWHERE so its never a problem for me to get there, but i heard that tickets for Oh My Dub were selling in high numbers so yeh i suppose someplace had to lose out on the nite.

Seems inevitable that it was gonna happen at some point, Ive been to a few nights recently with really disappointing turn-outs.
I think the explosion of dubstep nights in manc now is obviously somewhat to blame, but i haven't worked out whether this is conducive to the progression of the MCR scene, or whether its just gonna stifle it, until only the biggest nights with the biggest names can pull in a regular crowd.
Im interested in what everyone else thinks, especially Ken, as someone who's been around since day.

Well it's good Manchester finally has a proper scene with a variety of nights catering for all types of Dubstep and related genres but when you have 5 events on the same night then it's just spreading things a bit thin. It seems the only nights that do well are of the cheap and cheerful varity or the uber-big line-up type and even then there's no guarantee it'll do well.

I tend to go for quality,always trying to put together line-ups that I would get excited about, heard on a system that does the music justice and this is an ethos echoed by a few other nights around the city to varying degrees of success. I wish everyone the best and try and do what I can not to clash and to make sure all these events survive but it's inevitable that some will fall by the wayside (only to be replaced by new nights undoubtedly)

I don't know what the solution is but the community is beginning to try to work together more and more and this can only be a good thing: Long live the Manchester Dubsteppaz

it took Metropolis moving to Leeds, Platoon disappearing somewhat, and a load of nights ending for the new ones to come through, and now it seems just as it always was, with Soulution replacing the Audiosalad vibe and Oh My God and some other bulllcrap nights doing the work of Metropolis

Manc's scene weird, theres just enough locals to keep the bigger nights going and just enough students who stick to their own nights to keep the small nights going, just hope we dont end up with another Metropolis providing the same line ups year in year out... that said though they had N-type, Distance and Joker in the little room at thelast Leeds Metropolis, so someones telling him who to book!

thing is, if you could stick Ntype, Distance and Joker on a lineup here in a smaller club and promoted it properly you could have a night on your hands

last night in manc i went was the Deep Medi party at Basscamp and yeh, there was a few hundred people there but the venue if im honest seemed a bit shit (looking forward to checking out Sound Control) and there didnt seem much of a vibe there, and for Deep Medi you'd expect a fully rammed venue at least, i duno tho, been a while since ive been out in manchester regularly anyway!

Alot of nights have dissapeared into thin air but at one point you had: Hectic Harmoniz, Platoon, Daylight Robbery Saki Sessions, Hit n Run, Audiosalad an probably a few others I cant think off all running at the same time and the nights never seemed to clash, although that could just be down to me not remembering as it was a good few years ago. But yeah it probly would of been very hard for Oh My God, Subwoofah an a few others that seem to be about now to establish themselfs back then. Althought I think Soul:ution would of been a hit no matter what as its such a excellent selection of music in a great venue with an amazing soundsystem. I went to the opening night in November and it was the best dnb night I've been for years.

Yeah I haven't got much of a clue when it comes to the nights in manchester now, I tend to stick to freeparties. But Hit n Run is probly the only night I'd bother with in town now other than Soul:ution. Only problem is I work 9 - 5 an its on a Monday night so unless I'm off that week I have to stay away. But I suggest gettin down to a Soul:ution if you havent made it already its a great night an it wont be long till its the biggest dnb in manchester even without having to play dancefloor or jump up.

Sorry about the cigarette queue, the council decided 2 nights before the event to ban the club from having anyone smoking in the road outside. A covered smoking terrace overlooking the river behind the building is about to be constructed with room for 50 people to have a cigarette at the same time so that'll sort things. They were letting people out the front last night though as long as you weren't immediately on the doorstep of the venue. It's a new venue and it's just a teething problem basically.

As for Metropolis, don't get me started...
