when the conservatives get in i can see the NHS becoming a privatised system but back-door privatisation so they'll keep the name but fuck us every other way.

they put the starting bits of it in place last time they were in power, they have systematically privatised everything possible what makes you think they see nhs as any different?

Why would you not want you're tax to help someone who can not fund health care themselves. That is the problem with capitalist states, it embeds this everyman for them-self mentality into people, that someone who cannot afford something isn't working hard enough when it's bullshit.

The whole point of "society" is to help one another so it becomes of benefit to your own well-being.

I'll think you'll find David Cameron is a big proponent of the NHS.

there's plenty of capitalist countries in europe who have socialised, free-at-the-point-of-use healthcare for everybody. the us healthcare debate is nothing to do with capitalism.

By no means a expert on this but even if its not totally correct yet it still means that America is moving IN THE RIGHT GOD-DAMN WAY. Obama has lived up to the hype getting any sort of result with this imo.

the 'modern' tories haven't got the nuts to threaten the nhs, they'll know they'd be finished if they did. they might squeeze it a bit though

anyone who supports the old us system is a crackpot- their government spent more per person than the uk government did and we have universal coverage!

The question is whether they’ll be prepared to keep increasing funding - the rising cost of treatment is a one way street. The Tories didn’t actually cut spending on the NHS once during the 80s but waiting lists went through the roof because they didn’t make it a priority. The NHS is really expensive, although worth every penny.
