PETITION FOR A NEW STICKY

Post by Rigorous » Tue Mar 30, 2010 3:13 am

Okay. I MAY be the only one, but I really dont think I am.

The general idea on this forum, when a new person signs up to this forum and posts, Is check the sticky and dont be so copy cat. Thats usualy followed by some sort of "MAN I cant STAND how everyone wants to make this BLAH BLAH BLAH", and some sort of funny as hell joke that makes me laugh every time. REALLY tho. Im so damn tierd of ppl chopping every new person that comes in here down that I cant even stand to come thru here and POST.

Why do you not educate these people? Why do you not tell them to look into where this music came from????? Do you not think every time that your turning away this musics future?

I suggest a sticky that suggests if you cant at least shut up when you have nothing to say.... than at least phrase yourself like your not a toatl tnuc :z:

Example....
johnnyNOOB wrote:Hi, I wanna make Datsik bass with awesome drums in it!!!! That would be AWESOME RIGHT! What VST do I need and what Key should I push??
Average DSF Guy wrote:Hey man.....FUCK you! You make the wrong stuff and we all HATE YOU. Our OLD dubstep was BETTER
followed by 10 Posts of ppl telling him to check the stickys and 8 ppl who tell him to search it out and the 2 guys on here who will try and level with the guy.
Well that way is WRONG

Why not this...
Mr NOT a total DICK wrote:Those guys wright awesome musci! I listen to them too and I also like"................." It sounds like you have some GREAT ideas goin on! I suggest maybe just trying to find your own sound as an artist tho. You can read all about some ways to make those sounds in"........."
This may keep our music alive instead of just a forum of YOU flok until you all croak off and progress the sound more tward diversity and equality with more artist writing musci instead of meeting you lot and saying fuck it.......

JUST A THOUGHT. Make a sticky that says be nice or shut up.

People are sick and tired of seeing the same thread or threads that have been discussed time and time again, of which 95% of the information needed by the original poster can be found in the stickies already at the top.

Personally I think this thread is a waste of time and pointless.

People on this forum are happy to help, but less intwined to do so if people that are coming here have done very little reading on the VAST amounts of information already here.

I'm more than happy to help people but If people arn't willing to help themselves first, then I have little time for them.

I have to say, I agree with this.

We create the culture here.

I would rather lazy people, unwilling to take advantage of the tools they have (google - us old timers didn't have that) think DSF is a bunch of jerks than get all politically correct, and encourage more of the same threads over and over and over, instead of asking visitors to 1. search. 2. start thought provoking threads as opposed to wub wub, filth, etc threads over and over and over

I think DSF is really friendly, not sure why the OP thinks it's not. Not sure why the OP think this forum is dying either.

The problem isnt the people, or the questions, old wankz or noobz....it's simply that these forums don't provide that great of an organization system for what we are looking for. The search engine is decent, and I use it, but often doesnt work for more specific Q&A.

The production bible is probably the best way of resolving this issue. Adding too it, and making it stand out.

Lets be honest here, If a noob cant take a bit of good natured flaming and the occasional insult then they are a pussy who probably cries to their mum each time they cant find their comfort blanket. Along the same lines, If they cant learn from their mistakes when those mistakes have been highlighted then they are stupid or lazy or both and undeserving of your time and advice.

I remember when Bananabomber first joined..... Fuck me, he got flame grilled so badly you could have spread relish on him and called him a whopper. But he stuck it out, learnt from his mistakes and is now a valued member of the forum, making some good stuff.

I dont see why noobs have to be spoon fed like babies when they first arrive here. The rules are plain to see at the top of the page. No excuses for not seeing them.

Man up. Read the rules. Respect the rules and there wont be a problem. How much simpler does it have to be??

I would like a dubstep production wiki. Categorize all the stuff from the production Bible and put some stuff posted here in organized chuncks.. Problem with the production bible and all the following threads is the info isn't neatly on one page. Takes a bit of patience to see through all the random stuff and thank you posts.

Wiki.dubstepforum.com ftw!

what I don't understand is why anyone would take internet shit-talk seriously. It's the internet...dig, take the valuable information that you need, and move on.

this is an interwebz forum, not a nanny state. I'm not putting up 'be nice to each other' as a stickied rule.

if anyone wants to build a DSF production wiki, go for it-- PM me and let me know the links you need, if any. This forum is very supportive of folks who want to make a difference--check Basic A on the DSF sessions flex.

a lot of us taught ourselves everything we know about music production, and can do it at a high level. what is stopping other people from having that type of passion for their craft? it is absolutely a waste to answer "how do i wobble my massive" questions. Seriously?? :u:

This genre is over saturated anyway. I got shit the first few times I posted and I lurked for two years. It basically weeds out the people who really do give a shit. I don't think every two bit tnuc asking for rusko teh wobblez should get a decent answer.

It's the oversaturation of the genre that will kill it, not because there aren't many people making it. In fact if alot less people made it, it would be easier to find new music and easier to follow. Look at juke for instance.

Alright. In typical DSF fashion.... I can see that im going to have to explain myself a bit better.... and then I guess just hope that you guys can read a bit further into this and not just hop on the first whitty comment that comes to mind....

You as a general group seem to be sad that dubstep is getting somewhat one sided in tems of sound and what all the new guys want to make.

Do you not understand that if you educated these ppl and did your job as an established person in the music that there would be more ppl in the music, therefore more of a chance that some originality and variety would make its way in.

If you flame every kid that comes in here your not helping your cause..... your hurting it. Deadliy Habit does a great job of trying to stear ppl in the right direction. Flaming yes, absolutely REAMING these ppl and putting out a pretty clear msg that you have no interest in welcoming them is to much tho. You can be helpful, state your opinion, and bust thier chops a bit without completly turning them away and being an absolute dick tho. forums are ALWAYS a mess....Stickies get overlooked EVERYWHERE. This isnt just an attack at Dubstep Forum, ppl who are NEW quite obviously dont know the ropes....thats what makes them NEW guys.

Flame me all you want, I expect this. (maybe expected a bit more loyalty from some but I guess were all just natural born, "self learned" production MASTERS)

I guess nothing with a "?" ever came out of some of your mouths..

Anyhow, this is only intended to help. Just as every noobs question in here was just ment to take an interest and learn the craft. So Im sure your just gonna flame me like you do them.......Have at it.

REALLY dude...... If I have 10 Tee shirts.... and some other guy has 3....are you not more likley to find one you like at my shop????? Seems like a pretty simple concept to me man.... the more there is, the more variety there will be.

Before you all get started, and if you can even understand this, Im not saying flood w/ more crap. Im saying make more so there will be more to choose from, so I can pick and use more that is to my liking.

On a side note. JFK brings up a good point, Id like you all to understand tho. Im not attacking this forum. I am part of this forum. I post here just like all of you (albiet maybe not as often, I admit that) Im trying to better this place we care so much for. Im not saying DO IT. Im saying "hey just an idea, what if we..."

There are a few things that wether you lot will admit it, or wether you have to go back thru and read it cause no one will side w/ me cause they're scared of the DSF monster, are shared thoughts on this forum and that is #1 The burning up the new guy cause he doesnt know his ass from his elbow is kinda getting old....matter of fact its almost comparable to having spam in here. #2 The general theme of this place appears to be dubstep, but when you get in here its more like a group of friends who tricked the new kid in class into walking 'home' thru the woods and then beat him up... Its not very becoming. all Im saying.

You need to read my rig post again my friend. My discusion is about the general attitude to a new guy asking about a production method. Were not having a talk about how well you all get along with eachother.

also, im going to ignore the second part after saying this.... If you havnt read a passage on this forum that follows the basic jist of "you should stop trying to copy someone and be your own sound. I wish ppl would stop trying to make more brostep (replace with appropriate style) and start going back to what dubstep really is"

You either dont read the Prod forum on a regular basis, or are not one of us :? and I know better than to think its either of those things so I think your just being.....whats the word...... Unfriendly.

Ill say this again..... this thread is a suggestion. One that was made in hopes of bettering something that by even reading this msg you quite clearly care about. So why is hostility the route that I knew well before I even posted this would be the reaction. What the hell?

i agree with you rigorous, SOME people are unnessesarily rude to new comers and others asking well covered questions, but a sticky suggesting be nice is stupid really, no fucker takes any notice of the stickies as it is

We'll just end up with a sticky for absolutely everything and every other post will be someone reminding someone that they should have first read the sticky.
