So my friend put on Mt Eden Dubstep while we were chilling

Post by feral witchchild » Tue Mar 30, 2010 11:09 am

at his crib.

Sierra Leone, to be specific.

I did not even know what the fuck to say.

I was blazed as fuck, but not enough to enjoy that shit. lol

To not be an asshole, though, I didn't make a big thing of it, and just casually mentioned that he is despised by a lot of people in the world of dubstep.

It's fucked up because this dude actually has like good taste in terms of other kinds of music. lawl

Has this ever happened to any of you?

Discuss.

No, I was very nice about it, actually, he seemed confused by what I told him so I explained that people dislike MED because of the shitty production and him doing things like adding wobble bass to Archangel and shit. lawl

Was going to say the same thing.

You will just have to educate him in the way of the dub.

Had a similar thing happen to me a while ago. Mate told me to turn Loefah - Disco Rekah off because there was not enough bass and to back up his claim he put some Datsik on  I mean come on!

What is all the beef with Mt Eden anyway?

EDIT: Upon listening to Sierra Leone, I get the point. Say no more.

The same thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago.
This guy I know started to play Sierra Leone on his phone and when he looked at me I just shook my head.
He was like "What? Why dont you like it? Its a fucking TUNE"

Some people just can never be taught.

There's certain popular/extremely hated dubstep tunes that I enjoy. Eastern Jam is one of them.

So is Swagga.

Guilty pleasure tunes I guess.

But Mt. Eden....I like how they disabled rating the Sierra Leone vid and also how they militantly delete any negative comments towards it. I've ran that experiment several times in the past two weeks.

Sierra Leone would be pretty good if the mixdown wasn't absolute garbage.

Just listened to the tune in question. It wasn't particularly enjoyable to say the least. The thing that puzzled me was the amount of views it's had on youtube, nearly 4 mil for that Sierra Leone. I'd never even heard of it. I won't be listening again mind.

you know the initial sample on this song has a horrific amount of potential to be used well, someone should get on that

I remember my first listen to this tune, the intro nervously filled me with hope but when the drop came i realised. People being ill informed does not bother me at all, people refusing to accept facts such as my initial post in this thread is what drives me nuts

you think thats bad?

a girl i know asked me if i had heard mt eden's new song archangel? I casually said that i fucking hate mt eden because they tried to remix one of my favourite (it just tried to make me spell it favorite!!) ever songs and that i was offended. i remember when newton faulkner covered teardrop and so many people just assumed it was his because they know fuck all.
