heavy snares (current value, limewax, scorn...)
i usually listen to a lot of minimal music and most of the percussion in my tunes are just clicks and short noises but i've recently started listening to a lot of current value, limewax, etc. anyway the thing i love about their productions are the drum sounds they use.
now for kick drums i'm pretty happy with what i'm already doing. using drum samples from analog drum machines. but for the snares i cannot get anything even close to the heavyness that those guys are producing.
what i'm currently doing is grabbing a heavy sounding snare. layering it with a sort of metallic synth sound and maybe a pitched up short bass stab. blah blah blah. nothing is working. i've started sampling snares from metal songs but unfortunately my metal collection only extends as far as metallica and some berzerker cds. anybody have any idea how those guys are making such crushing snares? i've been looking into addictive drums and drumkit from hell too because i've heard they have some pretty nice snare samples.

if you use live, then open an 'impulse' sample thing, then import some snares (search for hardcore snares on google or something) then, turn the saturation on and turn the drive to about 16-20. and ur sorted
where can the meanbeat kit from? the website redirects for me

can we post torrent links on here? i have an amazing sample pack full of snares and stuff, i don't think its an official pack, looks like a botch job. i not going to post the link until given permission
Re: heavy snares (current value, limewax, scorn...)
no you can't post torrents here.
try adding short 909 or 808 sd samples under the layers you're already building. lots of great chunky snares in stylus, and you can build 'em in synths as well-- i remember absynth being particularly good for drum sounds.
