maybe it will take an hour walk, maybe 3 days of being offline and enjoying some natural soundscape.
i get often inspiried by this when nothing 'emotional' gives me an inspiration.
This, sometimes we all just forget too actually look around us.
yea now that the weather is nice gonna bust out the notebook, staff paper and psp with psp rhythm, get on my bike and ride to secluded spots i love
this is exactly what i love about summer, the free feeling, the weather, everyone seems to be in an upbeat mood. Perfect time for writing music.
matter of if you wanna sit inside doing it though when it's gorgeous out.
think i need a mobile setup again i can store in a backpack so i don't end up with my pasty white studio tan this year

really??
i'm actually a bit 'scared' of summer... i think i made it to a new 'level' with my productions since last automn. and i'm pretty sure also because of the gloomy feeling of the winter. i was sitting hours and hours in the studio doing beats. ignoring the cold and the snow outside.
in summer... dunno if i can keep being that productive.

Maybe the technical aspects wont be as good as they were in winter but surely the creative aspects of your tunes would be blossoming?

I beat my block!

It's back on track. Summers a great time for making beats. Long warm nights with the window open wide chilling

can't wait. Although I said this last year and made like 2 tracks...

a few years a go, i remember going back to school after the summer holidays and, every one asking me if is was ok because i had gone all white. i have tanned skin and they were all darker than me, were i ain't been out of my house in weeks
the last few years i make all my music in the winter. then when it comes to summer, i just drink cider and ride my bike all the time.

Make some tunes you dont normally or dont want to make, like make some cheesy trance or something. It's similar to bringing home a fat chick to get your confidence back up.

heh semi truth... go back to your roots that inspired you even if diff genres and make that for a bit and incorporate it into your current style
ie: i was stale for a hot min, went back to ambient, made some loops pulled em up in tempo and boom someone like u was born
also helps to disregard conventional rules and restrictions a genre gives and just be original

work with real instruments
get a harmonica, melodica something simple if you don't have a guitar or can't play any instruments
if i dont feel inspired, i just mong out hard with my eyes closed playing some strings or piano. REALLY REALLY thinking about where i want it to go and how what im playing makes me feel. even if i dont make something concrete, im sure it helps with my musical knowledge.
stop listening to dubstep. listen to weird, out west shit. its always the most inspiring.

If I feel uninspired I take the simplest road and take a break. Sometimes when you're uninspired the best thing to do is stop pushing yourself. Get off the computer for a week or so. Walk your dog that's grown fat from neglect because instead of walking him you fed him less as this was preferred to losing time that could be spent producing, treat that girlfriend you forgot you had to a walk in a park, call those relatives you constantly ignore because you're too busy tweaking a synth. Having a life outside of staring at a computer screen listening to a low pitched square wave buzzing in your ears is sometimes the simplest of remedies. You come back refreshed with new emotional material to convey and new experiences to translate into wobbly bass lines. Even if that emotional material is all very depressing, like your girlfriend dumping you for never noticing her and your dog dying of a heart attack or your relatives not remembering who you are because in the brief moment you took a break from production you realized that ten years had passed without your even noticing...

I am really feeling inspired right now but I can't seem to get much opportunity to sit in the studio and the time I do get I am just physically worn out which doesn't put me in the optimal state for making tunes. I think when I am feeling uninspired the thing that does the trick for me is just becoming a listener for a little while. It's like sometimes I get so caught up with my head being in my own ass I forget that other people make music too lol. Lately I have been finding it in an unlikely place which is DNB. Been jamming the autonomic podcasts all day and jammin some older dnb like Photek and Source Direct.

Totally true but at the same time depressing me a bit as I feel like music has ruined my life sometimes. All this work for very little in return makes me wonder why I do it sometimes but at the same time I am pretty much worthless outside of making music. Without it I become an extremely boring individual *sigh
