Late 2007, was browsing the Sytrus Patches section of the FL Studio forums. Some guy had uploaded clips of Red Eye and Spongebob, asking how he could emulate the bass. Searched around and found the first Tectonic Plates album - been hooked ever since.

Heard some being played through a pirate station in about 2002/2003, and thought "fuck, that is bassy." Then just heard and liked the odd snippet now and again as I was still a metalhead, and I'm not ashamed to say when I heard the FabricLive 37 mix, I was hooked.
i used to think it was all stupid and nothing but meaningless sounds, but that changed when i went to a dubstep night. i dont think the mainstream and stuff on youtube do it justice.
