in my opinion, i think one of the best artists at blending dark, beasty sub bass with midrange (in beautiful moderation) is the very underrated Dubtek:
I personally have no problem with the heavy wobble style of dubstep. I do, however, enjoy the older style where you still heard the heavy jungle influence on the sub bass. I'm still a huge fan of artists like Appleblim, Geiom, Peverelist, Ramadanman and other similar artists. I would say my current dubstep collection consists of more the deep sub style dubstep compared to the others but I do like them all.
At this point there's 3 songs that I find myself listening to every single day.
I don't know if you can consider them entirely dark, except maybe the "Dub & Run" song, but they are definitely deep and very melodic which is really my favorite style.

People wanting some user made tracks in here? Or just strictly fame? I make loads of deep n trippy [dub inspired] music
Anyway, here's a key player from a time when I borrowed my mates decks... Had this song on loop for about 9 hours once. Got to the point where the neighbours came round to complain, they were sound and said they wern't complaining about the noise, but could we please at least change the vinyl haha

It appears that there is a sharp differentiation between what is considered Dark, Deep, Grime, Dub, etc. Each individual has his own preference and opinion, most of what I have read through so far from my perspective is completely the opposite and I would never even throw some of these tunes in the "Dark" or "Deep" category.
Either way here are a few mixes by Kryptic Minds which no one has mentioned, these are all of their tunes in the mixes including untitled tracks, some of which are not released which I recommend for download:
