Vinyl vs Digital - 2010

So in 2010 what's your preference when buying tunes?

Do you get it on vinyl if you can?

If a tune was vinyl only, and a limited run, would you be more likely to buy it because of the exclusivity?

If you could order a vinyl direct from the label, and cheaper than chemical/red eye etc would you do it?

Does anyone in play vinyl anymore?

Does it piss digital DJ's off if they can't get a tune the same time it's out on vinyl?

i've moved over to vinyl...not bought anything digitally for a while..

Just seems moral to have to work on a set rather than have it correct mistakes ala serato...ableton is what i used to use and i'll still make intricate studio mixes at home....i have a wealth of music digitally as it is and i do still buy cds if i really want em...

I do like how it makes it more exclusive yes....if you have somebody using ableton or serato after your trainwrecked vinyl set it's nice that they at least don't have lots of tunes you do when they seamlessly switch and blend between every tune making you sound like a shit dj

vinyl goes first. but i use serato for unreleased tracks from some ninjas and some others.

vinyl all day long. it has alot more depth than digital IMO, love the physical control, more entertaining to a crowd than pressing buttons on a cdj, love the physical format, the excitement of finding a rare tune in a shop for £5 and knowing how lucky you are, rather than downloading a ripped WAV from a torrent.

oh and IMO its much more exciting waiting for the postman than watching a download bar.

I'm a sucker for this. I won't be interested in a tune and as soon as I hear that it's running out of copies I instantly want it, and usually end up not playing it much lol.

I prefer vinyl purely because there's less that can go wrong - played last night and one of the DJs was using CDJs and it stopped like 4 times for no reason. Plus alot of tunes are vinyl only.

whats wrong with serato?? i use it and imo its just like using real vinyl still

Im stuck on vinyl for now, but one day would love the option of something like serato. Just because ive got so many cool tunes as mp3s and wav that i cant play out ar the moment.

Yes. There are new peeps coming up playing vinyl. There are old school cats playing vinyl. There are big record shops selling thousands in vinyl records every week. Vinyl records to me, are also a bankable commodity.

nothing wrong with anything man...i just prefer real vinyl....plus you can set serato to assist you with mixing

Digital, import fees are a bitch. I actually had to sift through about 6 crates of old wax yesterday because I don't have room to store it anymore. Hopefully I can make a couple of bucks and it'll find a good home with someone who'll appreciate it.

As are customs apparently, basically every UK DJ that passes through here spins digital, not that I blame em'. Luggage surcharges kill profit margins I guess.

I sold my decks a few weeks ago, I really, really regret it already. CD/MP3 sounds really flat and uninspiring. Luckily I didn't sell any of my vinyl off.
