Look up virgil donatii if you're in the mood to have your soul crushed by drumming awesomeness.

i sampled a video of chris pennie (drummer for dillinger escape plan) playing some weird tribal improv stuff for an exhibit or something

and without meaning to turn this thread into awesome metal drummers, i think dave witte is pretty amazing as well, he's drummed for some killer bands: candiria, discordance axis, atomsmasher, municipal waste, melt banana

as evil and brutal as those videos are: oh dear. relentless blast beats on the first one, and relentless push pull technique on the second. The first one was very unimpressive. I have a hangup about blast beats, that's why I luv da haake. seriously, the syncronisation and almost perfect foot technique he has is quite simply better than any other. whilst i appreciate the stamina and concentration required to keep up a blast beat for 5 minutes, I just get bored of them.
now THIS

is fucking good drumming.
it has everything; dynamics, tension, groove, constant interest, syncronisation and creativity. I can't fault it.
I'm not vexed in the slightest by the fact he was 12 at the time at all.
I'd much rather listen to that that 10 minutes of joey twatfuck jordison beating the shit out his drums..
groove>speed

that is all.
