Looking for Arabic & Tribal influenced tracks....

Hi all,

I'm putting together a Bellydance mixtape for my partner and am after some suggestions for tracks (old/new, vinyl/cd/mp3, released or not etc.) with a heavy Tribal and/or Arabic, Gypsy or Klezmar influenced sound. Stuff featuring alot of eastern percussion (tablas, djembes etc) or melodies based on Harmonic or Melodic Minor, or Phrygian scales etc... and also breaks or mid-tempo crunky tracks, not just dubstep.

best examples Ive found so far:

Ruckspin - Hornz 2008 ( & Ed Solo - Egyptian Horns, which uses the same samples)
Sub Swara - Koli Stance (David Starfire remix), and a few other Sub Swara tracks
Chase & Status - Eastern Jam (Trillbass remix)
Al Jawala - Heymischer Bulga (Bukez Finezt Remix)
Tipper - Veil Lifter



Its proving more difficult than I thought to get a whole cd together, so any suggestions hugely appreciated

The artist unfortunately passed away young some years back, but his output was insanely prolific. So much so, in fact, that it's a little overwhelming for people trying to get into him. I'd recommend the "Blue Mosque" double album as a good start though. There's a track on disc 2 called "Bandit Queen" that might be good for bellydancin'.

This tune's not super-overtly Arabic sounding, but when it drops all the heads nod.

Thanks heaps for all the suggestions so far, loving some of the Shackleton output - very different from what i thought i was looking for, but fitting nonetheless. And Kryptic Minds, wow! where have I been!? beautiful.

not dubstep and not sure if this fits the specific arabic sound your looking for, but eastern sounding for sure.

Egyptic and Habibi by L Wiz on the same dub police record are some of my favourite songs and got that kind of feel.
