Yeah, for example Coki... makes midrange cack, without any sub to justify, I've been noticing subless tracks more and more, is that the end of dubstep?Pedro Sánchez wrote: just like 90% of todays so called "Dubstep" which is fucking subless wankage
(I am pretty fucked up on stimulants now so I might not make sense)

Re: Dubstep without a bassline
Dubstep without bass is like a girl that's afraid of bum sex
(Uncommon and easily converted)
Just check some tunes with laptop speakers though... Gives some good insight into the world of EQ and mixing. Recently I've been cutting back on the actual sub tracks and trying to have bass as a property generated by the voices from the kick drums etc... Not the biggest fan o' hip hop, but can't help but be intruiged by the stylistic way they use big beefy bass stabs
Some tracks really suffer without bass though... Chainsaw calligraphy without subs is analogous to when superman got reduced to a wheelchair

Re: Dubstep without a bassline
what are you even on about? i didnt say all coki tunes are based on subs did iBrisance wrote:And where the fuck is the sub on that one, you fanboy?Japanese Narco Girl wrote:first record i bought, massive tuneBrisance wrote:try goblin.
Cackstep is pointless.
you look like a fool
coki has made plenty of good tunes and he has been doing it for time - if you dont like it fair enough but dont put it in your next little subgenre and call it pointless. fair enough there is a lot of copy cats but cokis innovation with his bass sounds and rhythms is impressive and if you dont appreciate then i pity you.
and there is nuff sub bass on goblin, it just isnt the main focus of the tune

As if your reputation as a trend-setter and a rebel couldn't get any bigger.DZA wrote:I hardly ever use sub bass
Yeah, some tracks will suck without bass and that's fine. But it's good if your songs don't rely on one element.
Re: Dubstep without a bassline
Yeah I dunno I have done tunes where a subby kick serves as a bassline without technically being a bassline. My point is as long as there is enough low end to give the song balance who gives a fuck.
