is this a pretty good midi keyboard for the price?

i'm on a bit of a budget here. not looking for a full size keyboard, something that can fit on my desk
so far i have read some good reviews on this one and i'm planning on picking one of these up tomorrow

really looking for something i can run through reason and ableton.
i am a bit of a noob on the subject, currently been using my laptop keyboard and have only been producing for a few months , but it seems i will have a lot of different things i would be able to program, such as LFO rates and filter effects, as well as different samples. i think this will really benefit the workflow process, especially with reason

also i will get a discount on the it from my work, so it will only run me about 120 US

i think this one has the best features from what i have looked at, as well as being compact enough to not be a burden to carry around.
is this the best bang for my buck? or is there another model i should be considering?

I have the m-audio oxygen 8 v2 which is almost the same except it has no pads.
Never had any problems with it and it works fine in Reason.

M-Audio keyboards are good value IMO, esp with the pads and rotaries. I use mine with FL and it's made things a lot easier.

Do yourself a favour and invest in a 49 key controller, eventually you'll need the extra keys. I've used this keyboard a lot and I can safely say it's well worth the money but I would reccomend going for it's bigger 49 key brother

I've got an Oxygen 49 (the older one, the newer dark ones look so much cooler ), but it does me fine! Drum pads would be a nice addition though...

been browsing around here a lot and trying to contribute where i feel that i can, but alot of this i am new to.

i dont like how the axioms knobs are clicky and not smooth, this can show up in recording automation.

i went with the oxygen 49. and was lucky enought to longterm borrow a trigger finger for pads even though i dont use it.

True for the clicky knobs,I hate that.But other than that,I love my Axiom 49 absolutely no problem with it and I like the semi weighted keys!

True for the clicky knobs,I hate that.But other than that,I love my Axiom 49 absolutely no problem with it and I like the semi weighted keys!

no doubt the weighted keys are ALOT better then the oxygen.

I got the same one used for $120. Pretty happy with it.

1. Love the after touch and the semi-weighted keys. That alone, to me, makes it worth getting over an oxygen.

2. I dont like the pads. I just don't use them, but I think you can change them to be pressure sensitive instead of velocity sensitive so you could prob do some cool stuff with that.

3. The knobs are ok. Just ok. I wish they were sliders.

If i were to be getting a new controller today and knew what I would improve upon based on the axiom25
-32 or 37 keys (more if i had the room)
-sliders
-aftertouch
-semiweighted keys a plus, but not necessary

In the end I don't regret it though. But I did get it for $120 vs $180.

actually i work at best buy. we have a few locations with full blown music departments.

i originally saw the keyboard at a gc, then found out we stocked them when i drove out there to pick up some monitors
