1. put frog into mixer
2. little bit of salt
3. 0.4l red bull
4. mix together while recording it.
5. sample it into reason
6. copy paste
7. sync the lfo man.

Welcome to Dubstepforum cro-baR dubstep, don't let the irritation the previous posters have displayed to your commonly asked question be off-putting.cro-baR dubstep wrote:anybody know how i can get a sound like datsik using reason?

To be clear, the sound can be achieved using FM synthesis on the Subtractor or Thor, or can be made using Malstrom and some of the metalic soundwaves.
Here is a brief list of further threads that can be found on Dubstepforum related to this kind of bass and others. Read them and you'll benefit from new insights into the digi bass sound. In the future, remember to use the forum search button or Google to search for threads about your subject matter.

Subtractor!
Ramp waves on each osc. (Makesure you turn the 2nd one on.)
Both Osc's at 2! (Pretty damn important)
Have the top osc as the - and the bottom one set to the little circle. (No idea what these are called sorry)
Put the FM to around half way.
Filter one select BP 12.
Freq near the bottom res a tad higher.
Mod envelope:
Decay sustain up full attack and release at 0.
Filter envelope... Attack full, Decay just under half way, Sustain full and release at 0.
Amp Envelope:
Same as Mod Envelope.
LFO 1 on and select freq (Sure you know this part).
Choose a wave of your choice.
Add reverb, Unison and Eq. Bam a sound close to that of Datsik in reason!

Re: datsik sounds in reason?
Where is that? I don't suppose I could find it with the current search function on here.Basic A wrote:GOOD FUCKING GOD WILL YOU PEOPLE LEARN TO USE THE FUCKING SEARCH??? Re: datsik sounds in reason?
If you are to use scream keep the damage low. Put it on digital and eq out that horrible white noise it gives
.

						Re: datsik sounds in reason?
I believe if you turn P1 to 100% it should take out most of the white noise, will still need a bit of EQ for perfection though.Dr Bloodnugget wrote:If you are to use scream keep the damage low. Put it on digital and eq out that horrible white noise it gives.

Why can't people just say that one has been covered here>>> ww w.whatthefuckever.com and then welcome people to your forum. There are a lot of people that are new to forums and just happened to find a knowledge community and so they give asking their question a chance.
I find people who get pissed on forums because a question is asked over and over to be lamer than a redundant question. Sometimes I feel that people bitch and freak out a with their "use the fucking search" crap more to fit in with the other 10,000 plus posters than to be actually helping anyone.
I hate it when I am looking for an answer, and find a thread (DOA all the time lol) where somebody asked the question I need to know, and then all these flamers post pics and talk shit about the noob question instead of answering it. I mean, the question is out there, the thread is there, why not make it better by pointing the way. A thread of disses takes up more space than fixing it by answering or pointing to links. If google finds the thread, and I check it out, but the answer is not there, just a bunch of "how could you be so noobish" crap, it's a wast of time and cyberspace.
I think that suggesting the forum's accepted netiquette and then pointing the way is a better approach because then it shows that there are people here that will teach, and also help you to use forums in a better way. Just putting someone down for being so noob and uncool as to want to know how an artist who influences them does their art is lame. I often feel that there is this "look I'm so cool I would never ask about so-and-so's basslines" status crap on ALL music forums that there might be a tendency to turn away the young people that will likely be changing the scene and leaving all the stuck up old fuckers in the dust in the near future. Every tnuc on this forum asked somebody at some time how to wobble in FL or Reason, and once they got it down, it seems they are like "don't even ask you noob". Come on. . . .
The same goes for wanting to learn about Datsik or whoever. I mean, it shows the person realized on their own that there is more to this game than preset synths, and they want to know what to do next.
Ok I am off my shit-talk box and I pass the conch shell to piggy.
Now to the question. It seems that it's all about learning everything you can about synth programming first -filters, envelopes, etc. Resampling and signal splitting is often used too because IT'S ALL ABOUT GOING BEYOND THE SOFTWARE'S LIMITS! If there was a Datsik button on some VST somewhere, we would all hate that sound for being simple to achieve and over used on everything. For example, google Rusko and brutalelectro and you will find people bitching about the Scareware track sounding too lazy. Not to knock my man Rusko, that track is sick and his style is like punk rock dubstep as opposed to say, Tiesto's bajillion dollor production team. But people fiend for pure originality in their sound and it's done by doing things that aren't offered out of the box. People strive for going beyond what can be found in presets in a million ways and therefore develop their own sound in the process.
