Post by DanielStafford » Thu Apr 29, 2010 12:08 am

If i were to buy a pair of krk rp5's, how would i go about connecting them to my laptop? I only have the basic headphone and usb connections.
Thanks,

i would suggest getting yourself a fairly decent external soundcard with plently of inputs and outputs. you can get one that does a damn good job for under £100 easily... then just get the appropriate adaptors and/or leads and bam.

Basically mate like he said above you need an external soundcard (AUDIO INTERFACE - not called soundcard anymore) to connect the krks. I have a pair of krk rokit 8s and i have a stereo 1/4 inch jack from the back of the krk to a 1/4 inch jack on the audio interface... Can you see on the back of the KRK where it says Balanced TRS... thats where you need to connect it to.

A Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1, problem though, if you are using windows 7 or windows vista there will be static problems and cutting out and such every so often. Due to a conflict with windows drivers, until NI sort it out i dont recommend it because it is just frustrating.
