I'm down with it, I got into dubstep via grime so it makes perfect sense really ... I prefer the dubby end of grime and the grimy end of dubstep ... mixing it up dutch-pot sty-lee

= Good for both scenes, more experimental collabs, high production quality of Dubstep with exiting Grime lyracists. Plastic plays a mix of both, so it will be good when he's on Radio 1 fresh tracks from both genres. I thought the Nasty Jack and Stormin remix Loefah did was cool...don't see why there can't be more...would be cool to hear what Grime MCs come up with if they wrote lyrics specifically for Dubstep tracks.

My uni is done come May, I'd like to try and resurrect Filthy Dub, one of the first nights to have Dubstep and Grime together back in '03

It can definitely stand alone on just instrumentals, but I think you need some vocals thrown in now and again...imagine FWD without Crazy or DMZ without Sgt Pokes...it wouldn't be right. Don't get me wrong it wouldn't sound right if you had an MC on all night, but I think there's a place for MCs to vocal tracks and to have the odd set at a rave with a few MCs.

i think if its kept to a good minimum, a balance of
sorts. . . it'd work fine.

i know i got majorly turned off by all
the live [dnb] sets floating around with all
the mc chatter throughout the ENTIRE sets.

i agree with you on crazy and pokes of course. but they host. defo need a host..not an mc.

i like grime for wot it is wiv mcs but if they came to dub it wud reck the vibe that dub carries and the sound is spreadin far that will all cum to an end very quickly there hasnt bin a grime nite on in manchester for nearly 6 months but there is dub event every month an its growin fast

if u value the dub sound then u understand wot im say

grime is grime an dubstep is dubstep mcs dont evan sound gd on it like they do to grime

it's hard for me to get into grime these days. it seems to be more about the MC instead of the DJ. I do like Crazy D though. He's really got a diffrent style than most grime MCs. I think he adds a lot to Hatcha's sets without being obnoxious like grime MCs.

= something like drum n bass? With fast MCing instead of fast drums. And the comparatively slow dubstep as the bassy element. (the tempo difference being key) The MCing being like human beatboxing but with actual words. This is what grime mcing always was to me anyways. The vibe and pure sound was always more interesting than the lyrics. It helped that I couldn't understand what they were saying! (This is where grime is heading wrong imo- they're all becoming rappers focusing on lyrics. I mean, cmon people. The london underground has always been about the beats. Be real masters of ceremony's, not rappers.)

Right now I'm listening to some set with Nasty, Stormin, et al on some dubstep sounding slow beat and its a really cool vibe.
