they do use plenty of effects, as said above reverbs and delays.

well reggae skanks are originally just constructed of guitar, keys and maybe some brass. there are plenty different types and its all about experimenting with different rhythms and note lengths, chord construction.
the effected reverb and delay skanks come mainly from dub rather than reggae, so they weren't originally played live but products of manipulation by dub artists in the studio. since then live bands have used effects pedals to create the sounds.
you can make a skank out of a synth, or an organ, or a guitar, or a trumpet... messing with layering different things and syncopating the melodies all helps create the vibe. best way is to get yourself some musicians and record them because nothing emulates a musician like a musician :D

Of course it does... Else all music would all sound the same. Every chord is different, which is why key signatures exist... >_< If you use a different chord you get a different mood...

Ah, but any key doesn't mean any chord. A Major 9th or 11th will never sound very reggae...

Pshh eff that, I could make a major 13th sound reggae as fuck.
To be honest I thought this was a troll thread but apparently not. To the OP: Some people have already graciously given you instructions on how to make the sound yourself but you want us to spoon feed you? C'mon man, crack open a synth and fool around, you might learn something. Or go try to find an organ refill (geez I bet they don't make those) or some guitar samples. Anything will work really if you load it into a sampler, drop the sustain and set the decay to a short setting. At least practice your Google skills. hint: if you type in what you want, it'll usually give you results pertaining to that. Maybe try "organ refill" or "reggae skank guitar samples" And didn't someone already post a link to a reggae sample pack that you could download for freeeez?? Damn dude do you want me to come to your house with my guitar or what?
Not trying to flame, just point out that you should already be set with all the info already in this thread. :w:

True, but no one mentioned anything about those.
