Good DJs to send tracks out to.

Post by Assassin » Sun May 02, 2010 4:43 pm

Just wondered if anyone has any DJ contacts that are good to send tracks out to?

Thought it would be a pretty good thread for people looking to get played out.

I don't know many DJs and never get the names from any radio shows. It would just be nice to get some airtime.

Scope DSF sessions thread see who mixes on there, its catchin on the last couple weeks... I dont think legend4ry can play digital but other then that I dont THINK there are any other vinylphiles over there...

I have mixtapes, if that counts as out? Vague term 'out' ... def. not who you wanna talk to for rave/radio plays but I can get you in mixes if stuff fits...

Echoi/darkmatteruk whatever you call him now, he has a pretty tight mix series... I think hes been slackin on it lately but somethin tells me its gonna be gettin about that time again...

Mad E.P. had a thread around looking for shit to play out on his radio slots... Nice dude too...

Couple these guys have Dubstep/Sub/Rinse .fm's in their sigs, talk to them for sure...

Best bets let DJs come to you man, I was caught in that cycle where I saw threads with people planning mixtapes n stuff n sent tunes, realized after a while I was just sending people 320s for nothin really, cause DJs have producer loyalty, different tastes, ect. All my mix features n stuff have come from either random stumble upons on soundcloud/myspace, or from people who catch my stuff here out of my sig... only exceptions are the people I chat with on here... and thats just thier loyalty... Basically, like labels, it looks better if you just let em come too you...

I was kinda wondering why people download my tracks on Soundcloud. Is it to play out (I mean mine aren't exactly that good) or is it just to mix or listen to on an ipod?

I dunno, maybe I'm getting airplay on Tajikstan.Fm or something.

But Basic seems to know what he's talking about, some sound advice there.

You never know. Could be a DJ, could be a record label, could just be some kid with an ipod. But if it's a DJ or a record label they'll usually give you a shout and ask if you're OK with their plans.

My track heartbeats got downloaded a lot, and I ended up finding it on a you tube channel, being downloaded on Russian bit torrent websites, and it got included in a DJ mix or two. You might not always be able to keep track of what's going on with your tracks, but to be honest it's probably not a bad thing. Helps bump up your name a bit.

Try searching your artist name on yahoo and see what comes up.

Yeh, I made the same kind of mistake. After a long time with the name I realised there's an old D&B DJ with a label called Hayze, as well as some shitty indie band. Google's results give you some competition.

Always up for hearing new tunes... play out regularly in Cardiff, occasionally Bristol and places further afield. Don't do radio shows these days because of work commitments, but I love hearing new stuff and if it's good it's more than likely I'd play it on a set... add me up on aim if you want, username is bigbadandorange

I imagine most of the people downloading my tunes probably listen to it on their ipods/mp3 players, can't be records labels since they never seem to contact me, not surprised by that though, my production nor my songs are up to standard.

As has been said elsewhere, and I hope it's true, though no clue if it is, if your track is good, dj's/heads will be asking you for it. I've heard a few artists on here that make what I think is really good shit, and I'll tell anyone I can about it. Word spreads. Unfortunately, must of the people I'm referring to who had a really solid/personal sound seem to have left dsf.

you should worry more about the quality of the tracks than who you send it to, but if you don't send it out no one will hear it anyways. my advice would be to enable downloads on soundcloud, join a few groups and send it to them, and post in the dubs section on here. everyone loves a free 320 and if the tune is good enough you'll get a response

Cheers lads.

I would post in the dubs section if it didn't get instantly buried by brostep.

Thanks for the advice.

I think my problem is not knowing what DJs to send tracks to but having the quality of tracks.

Send me your tunes assasin one you sent before was styled right Ill make em work in sets for sure, if catchy enough I record monthly mixes too.

But, as said above, worry bout quality over sending them to random people. And dont bombard anyone you dont know with tunes... seems rude...

I used to promote gigs and bands. Overwhelming someone with songs is ridulous. 320 tomorrow basic?

It's the one in my sig but if you're after any others just ask, I'm all about sharing the art, free expression and brostep hating.

Got to share the love innit?

Yeh I've googled myself before, nothing to indicate I'm getting airplay,
hahahahahah

I don't really expect any important Dj to play one of my tunes cause' they're just focused on whatever thing they're doing or hearing whatever thing they're listening at the mo.

It's always going to be this possibility of someone big hear your tunes and got hooked up instantly with your sound, Who knows?

(this is speaking only about big things to happen like bunzerO or Starkey falls in love with one of your tunes and shit like that hahahahaha)

Will someone nicely and thoroughly explain what a 320 is on soundcloud. Yes I used the search button, and even google obviously having zero luck with either. PM me the answer if you want, it would be easier for the both of us.
