marketing college diploma shit thing, know somethings in photoshop and InDesign, my english I think is quite ok, I would work at almoust anything and plans of living, dunno, the south, London, maybe even a little north
Re: Settle down in the UK, how hard can it be?
Really depends what work you're after, how good your English is and where you want to be.
I'd suggest picking a city/area first, working out what you'd like to do and then sending lots of letters.

Re: Settle down in the UK, how hard can it be?
What areas or cities are doing best at employing people at the moment?
I`m thinking of trying London/south England though I don`t know much about the odds of finding something there, that`s why I started this thread

if you are willing to live under the flight plans of heathrow airport, the rent is dirt cheap. get earplugs tho.
Re: Settle down in the UK, how hard can it be?
If it's graphic design you're interested in, I know a mate of mine found it very difficult in the beginning. It all depends on how good you are really tho, may best sending some sample stuff of to agencies or whatever first.archer wrote:What areas or cities are doing best at employing people at the moment?

Re: Settle down in the UK, how hard can it be?
It isn't amazingly easy to get a job at the moment but I think if you're not too choosy to begin with then you should be able to find something. But definitely try to line something up before you move over. I'd suggest picking a town, then coming over for at least a week to spend some time in that town to see whether you actually like it before committing to the move. Best would be to lump that in with some interviews.

Re: Settle down in the UK, how hard can it be?
If we end up with a Tory government you might find this harder than it is at the moment too, though you should be alright as you're an EU brother.... they are making distinctly anti-European murmurings again. It might be best to get your shit sorted sooner rather than later.

I see, I`ll finnish college in two months time, see how well that goes and then see what happens and what opportunities are running in that momentmagma wrote:If we end up with a Tory government you might find this harder than it is at the moment too, though you should be alright as you're an EU brother.... they are making distinctly anti-European murmurings again. Re: Settle down in the UK, how hard can it be?
You won't find any opportunities handed to you on a plate that's for sure, and looking on the internet from another country isn't the one either.
If you really have the drive to come settle in London and do something useful then just do it. Make it so.

Re: Settle down in the UK, how hard can it be?
If you have a specialised skill, you can find a job I'm sure, in London we're all immigrants and mostly no one cares where you're from if you can do the job and you speak good English.
I love London, It's really exciting, it yet a modern and historic feel, the architecture is beautiful and varied every corner of the town is like a separate city with its own distinct style and flavour, there's loads of stuff going on every night, shows, conferences, exhibitions, galleries. There is loads of energy here, it's buzzing 24/7.
That said, I wouldn't move here, it's expensive, overcrowded, big cities in the UK are rife with violent crime, the infrastructure, especially transport, communications and health are oversubscribed because of literally millions of immigrants moving here in the last 15 years, I'm one of those immigrants, so I don't say it in a disparaging way against anyone in particular. The quality of stuff like food is very low and overpriced compared to Europe. British people kind of American in the way we are uncultured and unworldly especially compared to Europeans. We're obviously not quite as bad as Americans in that respect, but we're getting there.
Anyway, I could be biased, I'm leaving the UK again in 12 weeks, because I've had enough now!
