The kids who grew up entranced on pixelated crack make some good beats these days

This is their story

Bleepy Hip Hop & Dubstep, lots of samples, cameo appearances. Bare chiptunes can be a bit high pitched and squeaky for some tastes, so this is more about the crossover tunes, the smokey arcade where music and games rub up against each other and display their skills at 10p a go. Inevitably there's a few Jahtari tracks in there. First one to get all the references wins 200+ respect points and a megalixir

It's more than novelty or nostalgia, chippy 8-bit sounds are being assimilated into electronic music by people who grew up hooked on games. We're conditioned to feel joy or frustration with the right square wave frequency (Extra life!). The bleeps are only one aesthetic tool being used by a new wave of forward thinking electronic experimentalists, and it's all dance floor compatible and big fun.
