I wasnt comparing them, I said that they have rave tendencies,(see Sweet Shop and Zomby's Where Were you in 92 LP) not that they were the same.

Cheers for the other comments, they were pretty helpful. the mistake at the end where i completely contradict myself has been changed too.

again apologies for the thread title, i only joined yday and didnt realise that there was a reviews section on the forum. cheers

You don't get to tell me what I must or mustn't read. I doodled some dubstep inspired sketches on a scrap of paper!! A MUST PEEP FOR ALL DUBSTEP DOODLE "ENTHUSIASTS"!!!

ps: Why is "fans" in quotation marks? Are you implying that you jumped on the bandwagon that much harder than everyone else clamoring onboard? Is that what gave you the authority to write this dubstep bible or whatever?

Just relax and enjoy music without condemning others' tastes.

Thats the point of journalism, and columns are meant to be an opinion. I appreciate that the article hasnt really made sense to anyone on here - I was just writing from my experiences and my opinions.

In no part of the column does it say that anyone should or should not listen to it, I am just expressing my opinions about it.

I have already apologised for the thread title, as I said I am new to dubstepforum and didn't realise that there was a section for reviews and articles.

You should split it equally man and come at reviews with an objective (to a certain extent) view point. I read the review section to see what people are saying about anything; good, bad or indifferent.

A review should give you an idea of what to expect, interspersed with the reviewers personal critique.

It's easy to explain why somethings good but you should flex your pen explaining why something is bad as well.
I dunno mate, I don't really want to say bad things about somebody else's music, because to me music is a very personal thing and whether I like it or not - it's a reflection of them and everything they stand for (or should be). I'm not saying I'm going to shower every record with praise - far from it, but to write a really negative review of the kind I would probably write for the tracks he wanted me too just doesn't really sit well with me.

I suppose yeah I get what you mean about review sections in magazines etc. I don't know personally though a review that says this was good, this was bad, it's ok overall is fine, and I owuld do that myself but to be honest any review that's purely negative probably should have just been left out IMO.

Not deep at all, and certainly not a must-read by any stretch.

This. I might not like another persons music, but I'm not going to put them down because of it.

W/O the heavier side of dubstep you are referring to, many of us would'n't be here appreciating everything else you have looped together.

Dont be a hater.

I did say that without the heavier sound, its unlikely that dubstep would be as popular as it is now. im not hating the whole heavy genre, just the youtube producers - that was what the article was about, unfortunately it was hurriedly written so I didnt make that point clear enough

I didnt compare Zomby and Doctor P. A previous poster said that as well - I said they both have rave influences, not that they are similar.

AGAIN, I am new to dubstepforum so made a mistake by posting so loudly and also in the main section. apologies

No problems mate!
I cant say I have been here much longer, but it seems (and I hope so) that the supposed disparity between dubstep sounds is becoming a taboo subject here.

note to mods:please make it one.

An old button and a slice of cheese can write a better article. Benga and Skream didn't discover Dubstep. If anyone is to blame it's Benny Ill from Horsepower.

Opening paragrah you fail to mention anyone who makes normal dubstep.

Just because Ive only just got a profile for my clubnight doesnt mean "I dont know shit" about dubstep.

fair comment on the horsepower productions, but if you read it again, it says "including Skream and Benga" - its written for a predominantly 'indie' magazine so I had to mention well known artists.

and also, iv been nice in every other reply, but fuck you! ==> im not american, im from liverpool, it says in my signature. read below.

Sweet shop samples an old rave tune at the stert, hardly counts as being influenced by... :P
