in digital terms i'm not. but i love vinyl, digging in charity shops is one of my favourite activities. i used to find all the cool bits i could with a view of using them for samples but recently i've realised i just enjoy the fact that i'm rescuing all these wax chunks of history.frebentos wrote:I know helix is joking but I'm not sure about you.symmetricalsounds wrote:i agree, but seems we're in the minority. i made a thread about the subject a while ago and noone seems to care.Helix [Delay] wrote: I hate everything that's not wav, aiff, or flac.

exactly what i do. the phonograph technology will be about 150 years old soon. cassettes, 8tracks, dat's, vhs, betamax, 2,6,12,24 track tape.....all died within a couple decades. don't mess with success.symmetricalsounds wrote:rescuing all these wax chunks of history.

charity shops are getting wise though, mate saw them have record valuers in to some places we frequent. all about going to the most in-the-sticks place you can find. i was in bexhill a while ago, that was pretty good for digging.
one of the funniest things was once taking my handytrax into a charity shop and the two women behind the counter looking over and saying "ooooooo isn't that fancy" and "ooooo look its got a little speaker on it and everything"

Sorry I'm not as perfect as you, Seckle.seckle wrote:when you're transferring all your 1's and 2's from hard drive to hard drive in fear, my vinyl will still be there, for my kids and grandkids. they'll be able to hold an album in their hand, and look at it. maybe hang the album art on the wall.
Wasn't kidding, but I meant that I hate everything digital that's not wav, aiff, or flac. Sure, mp3s sound alright, but I'd much rather have aiffs.frebentos wrote:I know helix is joking but I'm not sure about you.symmetricalsounds wrote:i agree, but seems we're in the minority. i made a thread about the subject a while ago and noone seems to care.Helix [Delay] wrote: I hate everything that's not wav, aiff, or flac.
